Be it honor or what ever. No one would do that to their own and only child. Both parents loosing it at the same time....doubt that.

That and the fact that the Talwars filed an appeal against the closure report itself leads me to believe in their innocence. Seems very unlikely that the Talwars were so cocky that they wouldnt be implicated in the case and hence they decided to file an appeal.

Again, like all you here, this is just an opinion from me.

Why ? An honor killing by definition means both parents loosing at the same time. And in that part of the country this sort of thing isn't exactly unusual. The only mitigating factor is these are an educated lot not some villagers. So something must have transpired that made it necessary in a fit of rage.

I've not been through the magazine articles yet and will comment later.

The real culprit;

It becomes more societal driven and not so individualistic as this case seems. But reading on this past week it all corroborates to the parents, since the house was not breached by any other party. Only if the forensics had not been botched.

Go through the CBI closure report rather

Another thing that could be a possibility is they let someone else do it, or they were aware of it.

Im pretty much convinced the parent know something about the murder/murderer and/or they themselves did it.

Not filing an appeal would convince everyone even more that they are the culprits. Remember that they were the prime suspects when the closure report was filed. It would be simply common sense on their part if they were guilty.

Another possibility - Arushi was raped and killed by some third person/Hemraj and the father came to know about it so he killed hemraj for doing it/helping in letting a third person do it.

And to make it look like she wasn't raped and killed, the father put those injuries on her himself.

True... and what if they are convicted ? Their decision to file an appeal would sound foolish then, wouldnt it ?

Assuming they are guilty, the Talwars would imagine the above situation as you have pointed out and file an appeal, all the while being confident that based upon the evidence till now they cannot be convicted and sentenced. Sounds downright cocky and a bit too risky on their part just to salvage the already suspect opinion the public has of them.

If they hadnt filed an appeal, they would only risk the public opinion. An opinion which is already tattered and bruised during the past two years. In this case they could have been free (again assuming the CBI court would have allowed the CBI to close the case). So here they could have lived a free life under the shadows of being prime suspects in their daughters murder, instead of the first case where if convicted they would have been sentenced as well.
