hi...i wanted to upgrade my pc..i was going for the pII x2 550be and radeon 4670...im buying the gpu now but because of my budget problem im hesitant to buy a new cpu right now:(
my current cpu is athlon x2 4800+ brisbane 2.51 g stock...i have a crappy board which doesnt let me overclock whatsoever.
i game occasionally..but my current gpu 9500gt(2 weeks) is so poor that i just want to get rid of it as quickly as i can.i have a 6yrs old syncmaster lcd 1024*768 max..even at that res the gfx card stumbles..even in fifa 09.
i had a 3850.. i played crysis warhead and gta4..
so guys will my cpu be a problem while gaming (1024*768 max)??will it bottleneck 4670??should i wait a few months till the pII x4 prices drop (im an amd fanboi ;))??plzz help...thanks...

4670 will be enough for your current setup and will not get bottle-necked. But a phenom II X2 550 is actually a X4if you buy a 0922 batch. :) Thus you get a Phenom II X4 at only 5k+.

thanks again sabby :)...i went to chandni as u told me nd found the 550 be @ 5.1 k lowest...prices varied frm 5.1k to 5.4k
nd the 4670 @4.5-4.8k
790 gxb 4.2k
but to spend ~15k at this moment of time is a little difficult as my dad will not give me any :p coz ive already bought the 9500gt 2 weeks ago.
i am relieved to hear that the 4670 will not be bottlenecked..coz this is the best gfx card i found which doesnt require an additional power supply.

hmm...i thought about that too..its a great gpu but i have a frontech 500 watt...then i will have to buy another psu for the card...at this moment in kol 4770=4670+3k & may be psu :(
i have the crossfire situation in mind..only when ill buy a new monitor..ive
read somewhere 4670x2>4850..that would be awesome..

hello Mate,

I suggest you plan your upgrade keeping future in mind b'cos currently with the kind of moniter you have (1024*768 a very basic resolution ) a 4670 with your is fine or infact excellent ! but iam pretty sure with LCD's becoming so cheap you will be consider upgrading to the same soon,

Thus when you upgrade to an LCD moniter which now a day's have a high resultions your GPU will be more of a bottle neck the your CPU. so is suggest you to Stick to your current CPU and upgarde the motherboard and go for a 4770 GPU, which shall ensure you do not have to upgrade your current PSU and you can upgrade your cpu when have the budget.

Bye.

Well I won't claim to be a gamer, but I have read a number of times that experts recommending a single GPU solution over a 2 GPU SLI or CF system. And I believe 2 GPUs Power requirements+costs will be higher than a single GPU and that will mean a very bad value for money.
