Hey Guys .. want to buy new System .. Budget is 25,000

Price From Ahmedabad

AMD athlon 3500+ - 11,000 Rs ..( I dont know the core )

Asus A8n-VM CSM - 6,100 Rs

Transced 1 Gb DDR 3200 - 5100 Rs .

..now my Q is that ..whats the benfit of 1 MB L2 Cache .. and i think in 3500 + it comes with 512 KB ..

i also want to buy cool cabineet ?? which one is good ?? ANTEC ?? FRONTECH ?? :S

And is this deal worth it ?

CPU: Athlon 3000+ or Opteron 144/146
MOBO: Asus A8n-e + get a GFX like 6200 instead of the xtra money on the CPU
RAM: Twinmos/ Transcend 2x512mb DDR400 wud be fine
I dont know the exact prices but this wud come out to be nearly 25k
as for the cabby is it included in the 25k budget, then i would be able to help u better. and Antec is way better than frontech. No Comparison
 
Antec is certainly waaaaaaay better than Frontech. No comparison at all..... It is like comparing Mercedes Benz to Maruti :P

And yeah.... instead of the 3500+, go for an Opteron if available or an AMD 3000+ eith an A8N-E and a 6200.....
 
Hi,

For AMD additional 512k represents to approx 200Mhz.

That means CPU with same speed but additional 512K L2 cache will perform better and on the par with CPU thats 200Mhz faster but with 512K L2 cache.

Are you going to overclock your CPU? Or you want the best possible performance at stock speed.

if you want better performance at stock speeds then get 3500 or I have 3700+ for sale. PM me if you are interested. I would give you a good deal on that ;)

As far as motherboard is concerned i would suggest Get biostar/Krypton T6100-M9. It costs Rs.3975. Its a good stable board. looks good, performs good and overclocks good if you want to.

guyz ur confusing me ....
my priority is multitasking , video converting , and gaming ( MOSTLY COUNTER STRIKE 1.6 and NFS : Most wanted ) ..and i also want to know ..whats the VIDEO RAM in onboard IGP .. ?? 64 MB ?? or 128 MB ??

how is opetron in performance wise ??

There is zero video RAM in an IGP solution - it leeches off the regular system RAM, which is why it is also referred to as "shared memory"
 
Yup u r right .. i can set it from BIOS .....
and should i buy 1 single slot 1 GB ram .,... Or 2x512 ??
i m not gonna opverclock it ..
 
athlon 64 S939 is dual channel. So 2x512 will be better.

And if you are not overclocking then get the most powerful cpu you can afford in your budget. :)
 
ahha cisco_tech, we meet agn..... IIRC we corresponded long time back in vinuthomas forums :D

my advice for a 25K config would be:

- asus a8n-vm csm

- amd venice 3200+ w/ 512 KB Cache or Opteron 146 w/ 1 MB Cache

- 2 x 512 MB Transcend (for enabling dual channel mode)

the 200 Mhz extra rating is a synthetic one given by amd to differentiate between the models. However, the actual performance difference varies between applications. For example, compiling source code is actually hampered (somehow) by the larget L2 cache. However, if you are gonna transcode a lot of video, 1 MB L2 cache is the way to go.

Look out for Opteron 146's as their stock CPU speed is 2.0 Ghz and they come with a 1 MB L2 Cache. And if you turn on dynamic overclocking (10%) you will be good to go with a 2.2 Ghz processor (as your ram will not atall be a problem with a miserly 20 Mhz overclock) and you will have the performance of a SD3700+. Funky's SD will be a waste on you as its a superb OCer and deserves to go to someone who will use it to the fullest. AFAIK, a 146 cost around 9K.

EDIT: Do not confused due to the fancy sounding Opteron name. Its just a rebranding of the SD (SanDiego) cores which are tested a bit more so that they are suitable for server use. However, they work just great in a desktop environment, sometimes even better :D

Also i am interested in that GTO2... But i think the price is a lot high :hap5: ... You only said 13K-14K for the price of the 7800GT:cool2: ... woohooo.... what a offer m8 :D . my gf wants to play maha jong :P on her pc. so i would love to buy that card (the GTO2:hap2: ) but the price is too high re...... i say a price like 8k to 9k would be proper. what do you say?

actually a brand new 3500 is bought and little stuck with my dealer since i got opteron . though i'd tell u to get deejays deal or something optero n but atill if u wanna go for a brand new sealed box packed 3500 venice core e6 i can give it to you around 10k + vat with original bill and 3 years indian warranty.

actually switch this is not the card which had come first and which i had promised you the offer of first refusal. This is another one due to arrive on the 22nd of feb.the fate of this card i will decide when i get that x1900xt.

hmm x86, would you like to pay me $1100 for my (or funky's, or Darky's) Opty 165/170 since we have made it stable above 2.6 Ghz :) . FX-60 is 2.6 Ghz dual core :D right? So what say? Kab paisa bhej raha hai? :P

BTW, I sold my 3000+ oceable to 2.4 Ghz for Rs 5200/- I should have have probaby chaged Rs 15000 for it since it matches the specifications of a 3800+. What say?
