Hey guys,
My configuration is:
Motherboard: MSI 785GM-E65
CPU: AMD Phenom II 550 BE
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 1x4 GB
PSU: CM Extreme Power Plus 500W
Problem:
PC will not boot. Even the BIOS screen does not appear.
Description:
This problem has been occurring from quite a while. Earlier when I had a Kingston RAM, if my PC was not booting, I would just reinsert the memory and voila! it would start working. And, the Kingston RAM would only work in 1 memory slot on the motherboard.
After a while, this stopped working so I removed my Kingston RAM and inserted my spare G.Skill RAM. This G.Skill RAM worked in all memory slots so I assumed my Kingston RAM was faulty and the problem was solved. This configuration with the G.Skill worked for quite a while (around a month) but now again I am having the same problem by which PC will not boot at all. I have checked the G.Skill RAM in my 2nd PC and my 2nd PC boots up so I am guessing it is not a memory problem.
Now, how do I check whether it is a CPU or a Motherboard problem? I don't think its a GPU problem but advice is welcome. I need to be sure of which part has a problem because I am going to be buying a new component so I don't want to end up replacing a component that is not faulty.
Thoughts:
According to me its a motherboard problem because CPU usually do not have problems but I need some suggestions/help before I go ahead and buy a new motherboard.
-Thanks!
