I'm running a computer with a 1.7Ghz Intel Celeron processor, Williamette 0.18 micron core, 400Mhz FSB.

I'm looking to upgrade, and I'm looking at a 2.4Ghz P4 with a 0.13 micron core (400Mhz FSB). Would I be able to pop in the 0.13 P4 into the slot the 0.18 Celeron is in? My mobo is an Evo 310v.

Thanks :)

u can only use it if it uses the same socket. Check to see if ur mobo supports the p4 socket. i think ur better off buying a new mobo and u shud get a dual core processor. U can get a good package (mobo+dualcore cpu) for very cheap around $250 for amd and $350 for intel.

They're both Socket 478. I'm not looking to spend too much, the CPU is $50, if I can get a 2.4Ghz P4 that will work in my computer just to play a few games, I'd be great. :)
