Hey guys,

My CPU is running at a pretty high temperature since the past few weeks. Removed all the dust with a vaccum cleaner, but still it's heating up.

Let me first start with my config:

AMD Athlon II X4 635 (2.9GHz)

2*2GB 1333MHz DDR3 GSkill RAM.

1*1TB Seagate Barracuda.

MSI R5770 Hawk 1GB DDR5.

Corsair VX450 PSU.

Gigabyte 785GMT mobo.

Coolermaster Elite 310 cabinet.

Now, here's a screenshot of the current CPU temperature when I just started Win7.

Now, currently, for cooling, I just use CPU fans.

My cabinet has 1*120mm side fan, 1*120mm rear fan. The procy has a heatsink + fan, the PSU has a fan and the gfx card has 2 fans.

Any pointers on how to cool my PC more efficiently? I'm ready to shell out some dough, so should I first go in for a cabinet change? What should I do after that? Expert tips needed!

Regards,

Prateek.

Install 2 high quality fans probably Cooler master's in your cabby for cross ventilation. Re-apply thermal paste. Underclocking CPU should also be a good option.

i know the corsair fans ( in Push Pull )iam selling are very nice for the cpu cooler and i would be using if i was u

or get some Scythe Slipstream 1900 or GT AP15 or better

also apply good TIm on the cpu

The cpu cooler might be placed incorrectly.Apply new thermal paste and reseat the cooler. This will solve the problem in most cases.

Try Undervolting via BIOS

it helped mine

My proccy idles at 37-38c and maxes at 51c under load

the voltage is 1.25v and all else at a"Auto" :)

p.s.

my setup is similar to yours

and i have only one case fan(the default Back Exhaust in CM 310)

How about changing the cabinet, adding a gfx cooler and another couple of fans in the new cabinet? Should fix it once and for all, right?

Have you check the voltage from BIOS as well, and try a different temp monitoring application like real temp, because speedfan is known for reporting wrong temps
