Compatibility will be a big big problem

But just like with the South bridge chipset fans, these will come back once every decade or so after which efficiency will catch up

+1
Compatibility will be a pain, moreover the performance gains vs heating ur potential higher valued gpu ? I doubt they would address that easy .
Personally I feel if its for like server grade thing it might work out but normal pc builders its a no-no situation .
Phew at this point even liquid cooling would be a thing for M.2 I guess ! Man imagining those pipes destroying our beauty ! Well maybe in future ...!

Unsure but as nvme doesn't require any brackets etc. they might have kept into consideration while designing the most common area (between pci-ex slot) etc. across major mobo. mfg brands and came up with this.
Also, only a serious gamer or someone who like some luxury aka fancy stuff or the actually needy one who might need it will go for it.
Expecting it not to be on par with cpu cooler pricing else it might cost more or less with AIOs which imo wont be a great purchase!

unneccessary for normal use.....normally mobo/m.2 heatsinks are capable of keeping the temps low its not like ssd is 100 percent usage all time

if someone is using ssd for crypto stuff than maybe this will help
