Hey guys,

Since a few days the CPU usage of my computer goes up to 100% when i watch videos on youtube, I just reformatted my windows partition but its the same. Please help me out.

I have a Atholon 3200+ and 512MB ram.

Thank you

a) did it happen before ?

b) did it happen before if you watched the same thing ?

c) are you running the latest version of flash 10 ?

d) are you using ie or ff ? have you tried an alternate browser ?

e) when the video is playing, open task manager, go to the processes tab and which .exe is using the max mem usuage / cpu ?

f) in the same window , click on view > select columns > tick "cpu time"

g) now which .exe has been using the cpu for the 'max' time ?

My PC has the same processor and it is normal to see 100% load when you run flash videos at 1080p, around 85% load at 720p videos on YouTube. Its the same thing with flash games too.
And this is the reason Steve Jobs recently said Adobe is lazy and Flash is a processor hog.:)

^ try playing 1080p videos in any media player with your system specs and your system will crawl, flash or no flash.

its not flash but the video bitrate that's affecting your cpu.

1.No
2. No, it was smooth earlier, but since 2 days the cpu creeps.
c Yes,10.0.45.2
d.Usinf FF, same results in IE and chrome,
e. When playing youtube videos, FF in task manager hogs up to 121.xxx under mem. usage, Goes to 90xxx after closing youtube
f and g. - system idle process and FF are the highest

i have some full HD videos which are 3.9GB each for 2.5 minute video clip :S and they run perfectly on my lappy without crawling  now calculate the video bitrate yourself :ohyeah:

^ I thought you had both comp and lappy.

also wondering about the bluray file you were talking off. it seems to disregard all known current bluray specs.

Blu-ray has a max of 48mbps combined audio and video, of which 40 can be video, and 20 audio at any one time.

can you give a download link to that bluray file please?

by simple calculations, 1 minute of that file takes 1.56 Gb per minute. Considering only 25Gb can be put on a single layer bluray, the movie is just 16 minutes long?

I dying to download and know its bitrate. please post the link...

Sometimes firefox robs 90% of CPU Usage with a few tabs open. Use Memory Fox, an Add-on for Firefox.. This extension optimizes your memory so that you can surf without slowing down.. Actually it flush the memory every time you open or close a tab, or switch between tabs.. Hope this will help.. :)

You might have a problem with an windows file...

Check it in task manager > Processed, a single operation will be taking more than 56% of your CPU...

This had happened to me years ago...
