Helo,

Recently my motherboard died, so had to replace a new one. Now, when I play music through my speakers i hear a crackling noise, like that of vinyl poping sound, coming at regular intervals say 10 mins, 20 mins...The pc is a HP pavilion t830i,and this is first time my board died, so had to get replaced from a local tech person, dont know what board he put, he says Intel, cost around 2,600 rs.

Is the motherboard the culprit or something else?

TIA

Just to add to above, if i play cd from pc, same crackling sound comes. I have a Sony laptop, and if i play cd from laptop to my speakers, it plays fine without any crackling!!

this could be due to bad driver or no driver may be. So times buzzing noise can come due to power cables meddling with audio cables. Try isolating them and then try playing some sound. See if some problems still persist.

Try installing EVEREST Home Edition and then you can determine the model of the motherboard.

It's not hum and all power cables are away from audio cables. I dont use internal Realteck soundcard too.

Any more help pls.

I hope your local tech person gives you all the accessories came with the motherboard. So there should be a cd. Install the audio driver first.

download the program to know the motherboard model and all other information about you motherboard. Click Here.

Or copy and past to your address bar. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Inform about your motherboard.

I really want to know which intel board came within 2.6K.

No he didn't give me any CD, box, or warranty card. I ran the Cpuid Cpu-Z and it showed following:

And, with certain programs, i get this error message - "Runtime Error, R6002 - floating point support not loaded".

Any help?

So your motherboard model no D915GAG.

I think now you have to download the audio driver from the internet.

And in you error case you can read this page, look did you find something helpful or not. Must update here.

Here is another topic.

What operating system do you use?

Ok No problem go to the bellow address, and choose your operating system. and then choose operating system, then look bellow for the audio driver.

http://downloadcente...p+Board+D915GAG

Or if your Operating system is in the list bellow

Windows 2000 *, Windows XP Home Edition*, Windows XP Media Center Edition*, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition*, Windows XP Professional*

then you can go direct to bellow address

And download and install.

One more question, why not you claim your CD from the technician.

just download the manual and watch carefully for your board and look at list of item that came with this motherboard.

The Realteck driver is working fine. The DPC shows all green, no red at all. I play mp3 through pc soundcard and i hear no crackling in my headphone.

Issue1: I play audio cd in my pc drive connected to an external DAC via USB, crackling noise after 10 mins, then 15 mins, and so on from my active speakers.

Issue2: I play same audio cd in my Sony laptop drive connected to same external DAC via USB, and I play entire CD, NO CRACKLING NOISE, NOTHING,

The crackling happened only after this new motherboard.

Any help?

Just like the tech person who put that useless MB, I tell exactly what happens, silence is the key word.

If the computer fails to meet standard USB requirements, a possible result the soundcard creates a "white noise burst" at the analog audio outputs. This is caused by a flaw in some USB chipsets that were manufactured by Intel using the ICH6 architecture. The chipsets we have verified as having this problem are the 915G, 915P and 925X chipsets, although others may be affected as well. Intel publishes on their web site an Errata that provides a more detailed explanation. Please note that computers that create this problem produce issues with all USB 1.1 audio interfaces

http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-4282

The Audio issues reported by Digidesign are not due to any direct USB issue, but appear to be a result of a documented errata (errata #7 (http://developer.int...updt/301474.htm) on the B-1 stepping of the ICH6, which is stepping of the I/O controller used with the 925X chipset. The B-1 stepping of the ICH6 controller is also used with the 915G and 915P Express chipsets. Errata #7 may impact devices connected to the ICH6, including PCI devices and External devices connected via the USB port, due to an internal arbitration issue that may result in up to 40 µsec delay.

Its a documented problem with your 915G chipset.

Get a PCI USB card.

Update:

Installed a PCI USB card to my 915 MB and routed my USB DAC to them, bypassing the default USB drives. I played CD from pc drive for a long time, NO crackling or white noise at any intervals, what a relief. So, indeed, the USB in my 915G chipset is the culprit!
