hey guys,

yeah its sort of a silly question but i have no idea about it!
atom 1.33ghz (netbook)

thanks in advance

Creating accounts doesn't.

However, if you are on Windows, and you 'switch users', based on your system specs you are bound to notice a little bit of laziness from the OS

User accounts are stored on hard disk. User accounts take up almost no space. So the answer is no, it wont slow down your PC.

i think user account information like documents, pictures, other personal settings in the users personal folders do take up space.

^^ AFAIK the amount of stuff on the hard disk has absolutely nothing to do with the speed of the computer, until you run out of free space on the hard disk. :ashamed:

Too many user accounts only uses your disk space. If you have multiple users logged in at the same time (not active though logged in) then only it will significantly slow your computer..

^^ well it depends how a specific user uses his machine to store his files, I have seen guys dumping each and every file in my documents which makes it huge otherwise it should not go more than few MBs.

yeah^^ right....mine is 76gb:S

because i downloaded all the stuff in this only and now i cannot delete this account because that will result in 76gb of data loss:(

anyways thanks for the inputs:)

^^ Well, always create a separate partition for storing files.. For example if u have 80 GB hard-disk then you can create 2 or even 3 partitions for example C: (OS is installed) D: and E: (for your data).. So even if u format/delete these partitions/accounts your data will remain intact..

Correct. And for that reason only, i told earlier..

Well, you can still have majority of it, if you are using firefox than it creates a download folder inside my documents, just copy that and paste it at c:\ or at some folder which does not falls inside users directory. Next delete the folder from my documents. You can do it for other applications as well.

good luck

ahh...my uncle bought the netbook from US and gifted me so ....

there was only one partition C: that time and i haven't formatted the disk since then so couldn't create desired drives till now and yeah no partition shrink possible:(

using utorrent, it chose that download folder in documents & settings and i downloaded almost 20 gb in 3days in that folder :S

without giving it necessary attention that i got to store it away from account 'folders':(

lazy lazy lazy and lazy got 76 gb stored in it and now can't really copy paste that stuff:(

so the only way left for me is to keep the account intact and safe & probably create a new account for the intended purpose

but do you have space in your C drive, if so you can simply copy it to some folder at C.

If not than only option is to write few DVDs and than delete it.

so you still has 10+ GB there, right?

come on dude, use logic :)

goto the folder, copy 5 Gb at a time, paste it somewhere, than delete the copied 5 GB from my documents. What is so difficult in it?

143Gb(approx):(

come on dude, use logic

GOSH!!! i am so n00b in my language:P

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

it ain't that difficult ....but dude what's the point in copying and pasting several times to get one account deleted ..?

as the above posts make it clear that there is no speed loss as such by having multiple accounts...i am satisifed with it ........let it be:)
