First and formost, I want to make this clear, I am not really the "proper Audiophile". I like music, enjoy music, but I am not the really critical guy when it comes to audio equipment. So you won't find me spending 10K for state of the art noise cancelling earphones which will make coffee, breakfast for you, create music for you, and make you a millionare.
I would just like to spend on something I can enjoy. If I can get something for 200rs, why not, but If something at 825rs is value, I will go for it.
This Value for money combo is what made me go for Creative.
I am a big fan of creative products, and I feel they make one of the best audio solutions. My other creative product is the 1GB Nano which I got in 2006.
The Nano comes with some decent earphones. They are slightly above average in sound quality, and are kind of chalta hai.
For laptop listening I use Philips headphones which cost me 1500rs(I don't remember the model, sorry).
Now, I use the Nano, either on an airplane(maybe 4 times a year) or in the Gym(very frequently).
Both these environments are noise.
Esp. the gym. Somehow people there like to play song like Kaanta Lagaa, and many times in the afternoon you can hear Jagrata type songs playing at full blast(one of the instructors is a Bhakt Yogi).
But now we are diverging from the topic. Obviously you are not really interested, on the musical preferences of the Yogi trainer, but just in the earphones, right?
Well I will get to that.
Now when you have a noise environment, you have to try and push the earphones in your ear, and the stock headphones are not in ear. so you have a painful ear, and don't really snuff out the noise. So you compensate by playing the tiny mp3 player at close to full volume, and as we all know, as you increase the output of any amp, the distortion gets worse.
So when linking park says "What I've done" all you can ask is why.
It was due to this reason I decided to part with money and go for in ear phones.
The first candidates were HCL. Why? Because they were 225rs. They were white in color too, so I could pretend I have better stuff than I actually have. But the sound quality was bad.
Yes really bad, even for a non-audio geek like me.
So more googling convinced me that creative and sneihiesser(I hope I have the spelling right, and I still can't pronounce it) were good brands. The latter models I saw were for 3K atleast, so that went out of window.
Meanwhile I also saw Altec Lansing "In Ear" phones which were of the same shape as my Nano earphones, I wonder why they call them In ear.
So it was final, creative EP-630. I first tried for a GO(800rs), but then found that Nehru Place has them for 825rs, and it was an easy decision.
So lets start the review, shall we.
Ergonomics
Comfortable. Much much more than the stock plastic earphones. The rubber is really soft and fits nicely in my ear. I did not have to change the earbuds(they come with 2 spare earbuds in different sizes)
I can wear them for long and my ears don't ache! Voila
Sound quality
Simply rocking. I don't know whether its due to the Nano not needing to operate at max volume, or actualy quality improvement, but I don't care.
The bass is rich, the sound is diverse, and the listening experience is simply wow.
Verdict
Highly recommended. I mean there may be better stuff for 10000rs, but who cares, I am enjoying it! smashing value for money, and easily available at Nehru Place. The box says 1295MSRP, but street price is 825rs. If you bargain maybe you get it for less. I don't remember shop name, but almost everyone has it, thats what most others have also told me. There is a creative dealer also at Nehru place I think.
Cons
They have been of no help in the stock market. I am still losing money. Maybe if I had got the 10000 ones, I would have made a million in stocks?
But then I will never know!
