I know vista is bad , and the vista drivers for my Audigy 2ZS suck. And creative hasn't lifted a finger so solve it , except for a certain guy who had fixed all the bugs and released them.

And creative has chosen to shut him down.

turns out , they werent bugs at all, but features disabled due to a 'business decision'

Numbskulls. The 2ZS platinum pro ( cost me 14k back then :@) will be my first and last creative labs card. :| Auzentech FTW :D !

Reminder to myself; If I ever start spending on quality audio, avoid losers like Creative

Edit: Creative's sure getting a bashing on their own forums :ohyeah: !

They deserve to too - for over a year they've been claiming that Vista's driver model doesn't allow them to support those features when it is well known that there is nothing in Vista's driver model that would make that the case. They may have their reasons for not supporting those features in Vista (business reasons) but they need to be honest about it.

Anyway, Creative is on the way out. There was a time when they were the kings of multimedia - sound cards, CDROMs, speakers, modems, gfx cards..... Now all they have left is their soundcard business and the speakers.. they've lost a lot of the speaker business to Logitech and Altec Lansing, and their soundcard (XFi) no longer dominates the way it once used to.

they suck,by the way will we see any sound card that will support DTS HD Master audio, etc and with with analog out.imo creative wont be launching and sound cards in the future.

apparently auzentech seems to have taken an exclusive license for the same. so dont expect that on a creative card

Morons! Shows how stupid company executives are. All these tech companies are bothered only about their patents and IP. Customers are dammed! Sucks creative

I'm actually guessing Creative didn't have a choice, once whoever licensed the IP to them started complaining. What I don't like is that Creative could have told people long ago that this stuff was not going to come to Vista because of these issues (as opposed to whatever they were talking about before).

I think there are 2 issues here.

1) creative crippling Pre X Fi card drivers on vista to push X fi sales- he enabled those drivers

2) No DTS/DD out in X Fi despite creative advertising the same ( when even the old soundstorm 1 had it ).This was appraently due to auzentech getting an exclusive license. He enabled that for X Fi as well.

IMO, its ok if they didnt license the tech for X Fi. But isnt it wrong to cripple older hardware?

People might have bought such hardware just because of those features. I think its the licensing that is flawed. Basically forcing previous licensees to cripple features for an unrelated OS upgrade. What if vista could use the same drivers? then what would these IP centric MBAs would do?

Creative products will be avoided by informed Consumers after this...

Reading the comments by the people was fun....
