Credit card double-transaction issue

hi all,

some days back i was travelling and at the airport i had to pay a certain amount for 'extra baggage' to the airlines. i used my cc for that. i got sms & email for one transaction at the time. now after returning i was looking at my unbilled transactions on my netbanking page & found that it shows two transactions done by my cc to the airlines on the same date (ie, 30th jan), which is absurd & most likely erroneous on the part of the airlines-staff. i had also got receipt for only one transaction, and received sms & email alerts from the bank for that same one.

i rang up my bank's customer care & the customer-care rep said that the two amounts are different hence pls contact the airlines for this (a difference of 10 euros). i told him that i got alerts from the bank for only one, to which he seemed adamant that bank sends alerts for all transactions, so there should have been two. thought it futile to continue talking to him. so have decided to contact the airlines tomorrow. the statement for this bill hasnt been generated yet so am hopeful that this could be resolved earlier. i dont clearly recall whether i had tapped/swiped my cc twice due to an earlier failed attempt, but the alert-email from the bank states that the transaction was done using tap-method without otp/pin.

can anyone pls advise what're my options...how to take this ahead?
(if it helps, the airlines in subject is 'finnair' & the bank is hdfc)

TIA!

In this case Bank won't help, as card was used twice from your end.

You have to take issue to airlines only, but really unsure if they will reverse amount for additional transaction.(some days, exactly how many, much you delay more difficult it will get)

Wonder if they issue receipts for additional luggage? If you have same this will be off great help.

If payment was done by NFC, disable same ASAP (most common reason of multiple transaction)
Do update.

this was on 30th jan so ~2 weeks back

yes i do have the receipt. i can send a copy to them for verification that no other transaction was done/service availed (other than an in-flight internet-service for INR 1328).

thanks.
will do.

on thinking hard now i recall that the staff had corrected the amount on the swipe-machine in the first attempt & then handed it back to me. so perhaps that could be the point at which the amount got deducted first & then second time when i re-used the machine.

UPDATE: was unable to reach any customer service rep of finnair. of the two india no.s listed on their website one of them never connects while on the ivr of the other one, if chosen to speak to the 'management' team, the call gets disconnected saying "we dont have any agent available right now. thank you. goodbye." perhaps they dont have much staff in india.

fortunately got hold of someone from their accounts-team who hastily gave me an email address to write to, upon listening to my issue (before calling them i was looking for an email address only, but couldnt find it mentioned anywhere). its, contact.in@finnair.com. wrote, got a response in an hour that my email has been forwarded to the accounts-team only & that someone from there will be getting back to me on this matter.

hope this could be resolved within a week as i have to travel again after that & wont be so reachable then. am thinking of requesting chargeback too to the bank in case i dont get a satisfactory response from the airlines or if its getting delayed. -- someone pls advise if this step would be recommended..
