I'm getting this 2GB Crucial Ballistix kit for $330 shipped... the chips are Micron fat body D9's and the RAM has specified memory timings of 4-4-4-12 at DDR2-800 speeds. Anandtech was able to lower the timings to 4-4-4-8 @ 420Mhz when they tested the kit.

The pondering question... should I get the Ballistix or is there another 2GB kit in India with micron chips that can do those timings and speeds?

Thanks!

The fat body chips are supp to get to ddr2-1000 easily with a timings relaxed a little, and a newer batch of those are supp to be even better. Do u know if its a new one or old? But really, why do u even want ddr-2 800 RAM with ur 530, and does ur mobo even support more than 533? It would make more sense to buy when AM2 or Conroe come out(assuming u upgrade then :ohyeah:) Dont know about the availavility of 2GB kits here tho.

Who said the RAM is for my current rig? Btw, my P5GDC board OC's really well... bottle next is the CPU, and replacing the 530 with a 6xx series CPU will allow me to reach FSB900Mhz with no issues (with the 530 I do 850mhz).

Anyway, doesn't look like I'll find a good 2GB kit in India...

Well Rio, the kits on theitdepot (OCZ) are really overpriced so no use even looking at that.

What mobo are you planning on your next rig P5WD ?? Why don't you hang on and get DDR2 with 1066 Mhz clocks IIRC..

Can't decide on mobo yet... depends on what's out there when Conroe releases. I do plan on, however, using the DDR2 RAM I buy in my current rig until then.
