Dynamic Day/light cycle, true interactive environments, real time soft shadows, the works. Must watch.
 
Damn nice!!! Looks like Crytek are trying to better what they are already good at.... the tropical scenery and all that....

Far Cry 2 Would be Awesome if it made full use of this engine!! :bleh:
 
They wouldn't be making another engine, if they didn't have FarCry 2 in mind. I feel that the engine of the first FarCry itself is pretty far out. Is there any other game that uses the CryEngine? Haven't come across any myself.
 
looks fantastic. cant wait for it.

also check out theprojectv1.0 techdemo by crytek released last december. its really impressive. around 160mb

Legacy support will still exist, so you needn't worry. Besides, the next iteration of the API supporting SM 4.0 is going to be DirectX 9.0L apparently.

The Shadow details gave me the creeps. :O.

Im wondering, what card will u need to run that at full settings? :P 2 * 7800 GTX? 8800 Ultra (or whatever? :P)

^^ The API specs aint given yet, but yes it looks like WGF 1.0 or DX 9.0L. Think it will be released during R580 or G80 launches, and yes you will require either of them to run the game in full details.

And I think Sawmill is right WGF 2.0 is not going to have backward compatibility.
 
the demo looks brilliant.

i've always been a fan of crytek and cryengine.

i hope this farcry 2 concept turns out to be real. :)
