I sold my copy of the game to a friend.

It says it has already been activated by another person.

When I bought this game, I didnt have steam and I played it only offline.

Is it possible that after I installed steam (with HL 2), it also registered CZ automatically ?

If you already sold it to another guy, you cant play it legally anymore :) Anyways, one serial key can be activated only once. So probably your friend activated the key with his Steam ID so you need to buy another copy to play with your steam id .

No no... you are getting it wrong.

I dont want to play this game.

I never played it through Steam anyway.

Is there any way that my friend can play it ? If I uninstall Steam completely and then reinstall with only HL 2 and CSS, would it be ok ?

the whole idea of steam is 1 id all the game. soo that means if u have created an id for steam and tried installing CZ on it then u need to give ur steam id to your friend who wants to play. The problem out here is that your friend has already created a steam id give ur friend ur steam id and then i'm sure CZ will work at this place

If u havent registered it on Steam, then even when u installed HL2 it should not have registered the id with steam. By any chance, did u happen to lend the game to anyone? Contact valve support, dont tell them that u sold it just say that its not allowing you to register the game in steam
