As a newcomer to this forum, hello everyone.
Over the past couple of weeks I've been trying to resolve a problem (not serious) regarding the Ctrl-Alt-Del function in a Win2k system. I have posted this question to another newsgroup and so far, no-one has come up with a solution. It's your turn. :)

When I boot up the Win2k system I see the familiar "Please Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to Logon" window. I'd like to turn this window off. Here's the rub. The usual area to accomplish this turn-off is in the 'Users/Password" area. However, that sentence in "Users/Password" is grayed out.

I have already modified the registry by adding a DWord and that didn't work.
If anyone's curious I can respond with the details of the modification.

The system itself is part of a workgroup (not a domain). One idea I had was to boot up in safe mode. I haven't tried that yet but will do so this afternoon after work. Aside from that ---

Anyone got any other ideas?

did you try this

Start ->

Settings ->

Control Panel ->

Administrative Tools ->

Local Security Settings ->

Local Policies ->

Security Options ->

Disable CTRL+ALT+DEL requirement for logon ->

True

or try this,

type run/gpedit.msc/Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local Policies/Security options/Double click Interactive Logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL and set it to Enabled, then press OK

Thanks for the response.
Last night after work I gave your suggestion a try and to my utter surprise the specific area of the Local Policies was almost empty. The registry key was missing. In fact, there were only two entries in the specific area you mentioned and both had something to do with renaming the administrator account.

Should I try and add the key?
