Hey everybody..i plan to game at 1920×1080 resolution and ill be using the card in my i5-2500k based build. My max budget for the graphics card is 24k.
I already have plans for buying a GTX 570 @ 19.5k but now im thinking if the GTX 580 is just a little more..why not get it;).

So basically..

What is the cost of cheapest GTX 580 out there? Can i get GTX 580 around 24k?

Don't quote any online store price..there graphics card prices are all outdated/inflated. If anyone has an actual shop quote or has recently bouht one..and could post here it will be great help..

Thank you for your help..:)

Get the MSI R6970 Lightening.

MSI Radeon HD 6970 Lightning review

Excellent Custom cooler design and factory overclocked to 940MHz (60MHz overclock). This card costs 22k from SMC and worth every rupee. Its miles ahead of every thing else that you can get in that budget be it a stock 6970 or GTX570.

As for GTX580, even the cheapest one will set you back upwards of 26k.

Ya i just read few reviews about MSI HD 6970 Lightning. Its performance is at par with the Palit GTX 570 Sonic Platinum(its a non ref design with great reviews). Although i have always gone the Nvidia way..this time i could try AMD. Ill keep reading.

Also if anybody here could tell me the market cost of Palit GTX 570 Sonic Platinum. I have been lookin for this for some time now.

Where did you get prices for the GTX 570 and AMD HD 6970 prices, I think it should be the other way --

AMD HD 6970 ~ 19500/- (Golccha Computers, Bangalore)
GTX 570 ~ 22000/- (same as above)

And I'll recommend the AMD HD 6970 over both the nVidia based cards, much better price/performance ration and it only gets better in the third-party solutions like MSIs' Twin Frozr / Lightning, Sapphires' Vapor-X and HISs' IceQ edition.

Runs cooler, performs close to the GTX 580 and doesn't need a dedicated PSU for only the graphics card :bleh:. Bench - GPU11 - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News

I was thinking the same, since m already spending so much on GYX570, why not take a GTX580...

But there is no GTX580 below 26k...

U could get a second hand GTX580 @ 22-23k but people hardly sell it, since its awesome...

....Mine I paid 28.5K....but its one hell of a card.

just for you to decide what you would like in your cup of tea :)

Thank u everybody for such quick replies. Reading replies here + researching in general i found out the following:

--> GTX 580 is clearly out of my budget. So its out of the race.

--> GTX 570 is perfect price wise, and the Palit GTX 570 Sonic Platinum in particular has the best temp + factory OC out there. Help me find this particular card.

--> HD 6970 is good and falls between GTX 580 and GTX 570 but in certain games even the stock GTX 570 over takes it. So the crazy OCed palit sonic platinum will easily overtake it. Also HD 6970 has a alear advantage over GTX 570 only at really high resolutions due to its 2Gb frame buffer. Otherwise GTX 570 has little more or almost same raw power.

As now the GTX 580 is out of the race i think its best to start another thread which is correctly named.

^^ As far as dual slot custom cooler designs are concerned, I think MSI has the best of the lot. If you really want the GTX 570 Sonic Platinum, its available from theITWares for 22k. Get in touch with him. But I would strongly recommend the GTX570 Twin Frozr II or the 6970 Lightening from MSI.

GTX570 Twin Frozr II has the same load temps as of Palit GTX570 SP but a significantly lower factory OC. According to 3Dguru.com the palit card performs very close to a stock GTX 580. So i think if it has to be a GTX570 it has to be the fastest + one of the coolest running = Palit 570 SP. Only problem can be availability with the local dealers in my city(Hyderabad). Its selling @22k at itdepot.com not itwares(small correction). But i think its overpriced as i know for a fact that reference design based 570's are available @19k in Hyderabad.

And ya HD 6970 Lightening from MSI also has great reviews so it will be my second choice.
