PC Peripherals Current leaking in cabinet

One of my friend has bought a new system 2 days back and when he installed the PC, some little bit of current is coming in the CPU and the table on which the PC is placed.

Can anyone help in this and is this current due to earthing or ????
 
on the first look it looks like the problem is due to improper/lack of earthing.

i think the spike guard (the extension point where you connect the cpu, minitor ext) would be having lights which would signal if there is a fault in the line e.g.: live n neutral reversed, no earthing etc.

get the line checked first. also there are line testers available in market from MX at rs. 40-45. use them to check the lines at various wall sockets in the house.

this is the first step u should do.
 
Check the earthing as mhamirma suggested.

On the other note... I wonder when people will stop calling their cabinets a CPU. CPU is processor, NOT your PC assembly. When I read the line "some little bit of current is coming in the CPU" I almost thought that the CPU i.e. the processor is giving shocks, then I wondered why someone is running their CPU without heatsink and touching it? until I read the last part "and the table on which the PC is placed.".

PLEASE stop calling you PC/Cabinets a CPU... it's misguiding.
 
First things first. Take the computer out of that line and start your experiments with a low cost device attached to it. If you prove that the line is not the issue, then move to the computer. Just not worth rising a computer in a bad power line.
 
my first thought please dont switch that pc on .... electric current flowing in ur case would spoil your other components. HDD at great risk

secondly start by plugging the same set up and wires at different plug point at home.

Then also see many people buy 2-pin for the SMPS, so see if u have 3 pin or 2 pin. make sure to use 3 pin.

Then as many suggested change the SMPS wire, then if still problem persists take ur cabinet to a workshop, coz i feel u aint geeky enough to rectify complex problems. no offense meant in that. I seriously feel one shouldnt tinker beyond their expertize.
 
100% earthing problem. Same thing happened to me. Even the usb devices conduct the shock. Try plugging into a different socket in another room.
 
indeed its an earthing issue.

but do check the spike guard also. Some time back my earthing was all ok but it was the spike guard the culprit.

And dont forget to check all electric wall lines of all rooms coz today its your pc but tomorrow may be some other device like fridge or tv can also give shock!!!

and last thing, u said your table is also giving current, i assume you are using a metallic table.

Plz avoid it and shift to a wooden table.
