HD tune reports current pending sector 1 for my seagate 1tB . Is this anything to worry about ?.

Should i backup data and apply for RMA or wait and see if the number increases ?.

thanx in advance

If the value is 1, then you don't have to worry.

With time , your HDD will automatically try to remap it, and it will not be reported anymore

thank you. But recently i can notice that the pc's boot time after 'starting windows' screen is taking long. It has been one week since this report by hd tune and the sector isnt remapped yet.

Seagate 7200.12 320gb. Was RMA'd once, this is a 'certified repaired' piece. Hdtune shows a yellow warning in reallocated sector count. Please see the attachment. I have 2 months of warranty remaining. Should i go ahead and rma?

mate i highly recommend you to RMA your drive, as you have only 2 more months, and the Reallocation sector count is high.

RMA it, before it gets late

Cheers for the advice. It's not much trouble anyway, since i'll be doing it through prime, but i was wondering if it wasn't an issue, i'd just let it be. Also after hearing some seagate rma stories, i'm a bit worried the replacement will be even worse! anyway, i'll do it next month, need to back up stuff first.

RMA might be a hassle, but considering the current health status of the HDD, RMA will be beneficial.

If your HDD dies completely after 2 months, then you could do nothing, rather then blaming yourself. So don't think twice before RMA

Just an update. Got the hdd back. It's the same 320gb but a newer model, sata 6gbps instead of 3gbps. Aug 1010 piece. Certified repaired sticker. Scratches along the sides where the screw holes are, indicating that it's a used piece. The bumped my warranty by 1.5 months till july 15th. Hope keeps working. My old samsung 250gb runs at about 32degress, this one is always 5-6deg hotter.

Congrats mate, finally you got a better HDD with extended warranty :)

Lol @ extended warranty. The drive is pretty fast even though hot. Averages 100MB/s both read and write with 200MB/s burst with about 8ms access time. Hope it doesn't burn itself out.

good to hear that your RMA was smooth

All thanks to PrimeABGB. I just gave it to them, and they did the rest. Best service ever.

Ok the friggin repaired POS hdd just died again.

My friend still has most of my stuff backed up, but lost some new movies. No biggie, just that i can't remember what all so i can dload em again!

I dunno wtf is the whole point in seagate giving repaired replacements that keep dying.
