is it due to DOMINATION OF DD3s like wat happen to DDR ram when DDR2 dominated ?

DDR2 prices had dropped a lot coz of manufacturing >> demand and RAM companies almost selling them at a loss trying to be competitive.

Now with DDR3 slowly being the defacto, its normal for DDR2 prices to go up as manufacturing for DDR2 reduces.

the big question is- are the prices of ddr2 going to come down anytime soon? i remember last time the price of ddr kept on climbing and ddr2 kept on falling. so ddr3 is the way to go right now?

Its at a pricepoint now where DDR2 and DDR3 prices are near equal.

Going forward, i expect DDR3 prices to go lower while DDR2 should go higher as DDR3 becomes mainstream. Yup, DDR3 is the way to go right now if building a new system.

DDR3 price for 2gb transcend 1333mhz was 1.8-1.9k in May-June.

Now DDR3 price ~ DDR2 price

DDR3 price will drop in q1 2010 and DDR2 price will increase further more.

DDR3 is the way to go now.
