Guys, Can't find Dual Layer dvd here nor have a 8gb flash drive. Are there any other options?I can mount the dmg image as virtual drive using deamon tools on Win7 and share it across network over wifi.

Can remote install option work here? would this work?

[edit]

I do have USB hdd, can that be used?

Hey guys. There seems two main methods to install OS X

1) Boot CD + Dual Layer DVD(I don't have DL DVD)

2) USB HDD/Flash drive + Disk Utility to prepare(don't have a mac at home)

Best would be find some alternative that can provide Mac's Disk Utility functions on Windows or Linux.

So there any other convenient way

i m also interested in installing hackintosh on my rig bt worse thing is tht i hav amd rig :(

can sum1 wid experience of installing it on amd help me wid dis ...? :)

Managed to Install it, now the issue is I it does not boot -- Bios hangs at "Verifying DMI Pool data". However, I think its issue with bootloader because the system boots just fine using bootable flash drive which has Myhack installed. I have installed SL from retail dvd on a second hdd.

Can way to fix this issue?

[edit]

Fixed, now system boots on its own. Next is getting sound to work

Anyone know the BIOS settings for my motherboard to install mac???
When i select boot from Cd,it shows the bootloader and just reboots??:(

i had use ideneb 10.5.6 worked fine except USB anyway not worth the time and effort :| linux ubuntu /mint or archlinux is much better

Running Vanilla Snow Leopard Server flawlessly since last year. I remember the installation being very cumbersome. I used This and This guides to among others make it work. BTW, I have an Intel config with nVidia graphics. Everything is working perfectly including updates.

Could someone let me know if my rig (in sig) would be able to run this?

Also please PM (if cannot post here) on how I can get this to work on a PC.

initially i was too much interested on running hackintosh on my PC(asus p5qpro) but after trying it on a VM ..i decided to stop wasting time(Installs, updates, images, boot sectors.......) just because it can be done.

Mac OS X does not (yet) support AMD HD 6xxx GPUs, as such, you would not be able to boot into the OS at all. There's word of a particular bootloader (Kabyl, I think it is) that supposedly supports them. I'd suggest waiting until they are supported before trying to install.

The rest of your rig is absolutely fine and should have no trouble running Mac OS. Of course, depending on the parts on you mobo (LAN, audio, sata, etc) you may have to dig around the InsanelyMac forums to find the right kexts.

I have OS X Snow Leopard running flawlessly on my system (see my rig).

Cheers,

Maestro

Hey. On thinking about it, running it on a VM would be cool for me too.

Can you please let me know how to go about this?

I tried Kalyway 10.5.2 dvd and its running perfect in my system. But i want to upgrade to Snow Leopard(10.6.X).
I've the copy of retail dvd. So, i thought i should install it.
I tried to install it using USB drive, but the installation keeps on getting failed. I modified its OSInstall.mpkg and OSInstall.pkg to support installation to a MBR partition, but still the installation fails.
Any help or suggestion on this ???
