Can I have my micro sim cut to nano?

Actually I keep juggling between phones which requires diff. slots and stupid vodafone doesnt have a sim which has nano/micro/macro capabilities all in one.

So can I get my micro sim cut furthermore to a nano and in nano state use it as a micro as well?

Yes it can be done. My wife used to use iphone 4 which took microSIM (which we had cut from a normal sim) and now she has an iphone 6 plus and we cut the same microSIM to nano SIM.
Btw what normal/micro/nano sim all in one thing you are expecting from Vodafone ?

My docomo has all-in-one sim: Macro + Micro + Nano so it can be used in all phones right from yester years to current. :cool:

Vodafone doesnt have any such multi-sim.:(
 
Yeah you can easily cut it, with a good enough cutter. Those strong plastic ones are recommended, and more importantly you need to do it at one go, just press it hard one time, done. God knows how many SIM cards I have cut, just for fun :p

Can you recommend any such sim cutter available online?
Asking coz you seem to have some exp. on that.;) and also I dont want to damage my exisitng card.
I have some old sims to try on though.
 
^^ Practically every mobile shop even in villages have those cutters. Just goto any mobile shop and get your sim cut for 10rs.. Only the old sims will not work as nano sims, you will know it by looking at the contact area (yellow part).. For very old sims it almost square..
 
After being pissed at how I had to submit shit load of documents to get a nano sim, I just came home and cut it with a scissor. I cut it too short so had to use small plastic bits to keep it in place in the sim tray. It works flawlessly but I would advice against doing it yourself. Go to a local cellphone shop and get it cut from them. They have sim cutters and the whole process will be a breeze. All the best.

As you can see the price is pretty cheap, so you can go for higher priced units, but I doubt whether those will be far better as mine does the job more than good.
 
What documents do they ask ?. One service center of Vodafone was harassing me in my locality and asked me to take postpaid service when I sought for a nano sim. He was just harassing me each and every time I sent my servant to get the sim. Then I lodged a complaint against that fellow and got it done in 2 hours from a different service center.
I think if you return the old sim, the process is easy and they don't harass you to produce several documents.
 
Now this is really getting weird...:inpain:
Surveyed 19 shops and 99% say they dont know how to cut micro to nano sim and or give reasons that there's more risk involved and the sim may get useless once done so they never do it.:wtf:

Only 1 shop actually took my sim and inserted in the sim cutter and he said we can cut but the golden area may also get cut slightly. I also tried with my hands but found its way too risky.
So dropped the idea of getting it trimmed.

Also vodafone is too smart. They have designed their micro sim such that it 'll be nearly impossible to convert/cut it into a nano.:rage:

Might exchange for a new sim once I go home.:(
 
For Vodafone they have, normal + Micro but not Nano. Last time when I needed Nano SIM, I returned my Mirco SIM and got Nano for 25 bucks and it got activated in less than 45 minutes - time taken by me to reach home from their store.
 
Yeah airtel prepaid is the same, they won't give you a nano or micro for that matter, all you get is a mini. They'll give you a nano with postpaid as you've already paid the rs.25 along with the extra charges anyway.,

You then have to rs.25 on top to get either a micro or nano. Since mine uses micro i went with that. Getting adapters may or may not work with nano and if i ever need it i'll just get a proper one.

Its just one form(not even a form momre a sheet with checkboxes) , no more extra documents. if you're an old customer then they want to do the KYC business and get more.

Ok so if I need a nano from Vodafone it wont come with any adapter thing right? It will be a simple nano.
Yeah activation isnt an issue as it gets done within 30mins flat.
But even though been a postpaid customer they charge 50 bucks and thats pretty ridiculous.

Nope no adapter as such with Nano. About charges, it may be different for different circles. I m from Mumbai and yours would be Maharashtra and Goa I suppose.
 
I would recommend against cutting a regular/micro sim card to nano as the nano sim is also thinner than normal sims. My friend damaged one of his slot of his desire 816G using cut sim.
Dunno about Vodafone but Aircel provided a nano sim free of cost for prepaid.
 
This is the other thing, with some sim holders you have to slot it in (you cannot access it anymore) others have a tray, still others expose the top half so you kinda have access to the card even when its inserted. For the first case you're better off using a proper card ie no cutting or adapters. The other two are more forgiving.
