Daily Deal aka group buying site status in India, any good?

There are about 28 local deals sites aka Groupon clones in India.

I know group buying is quite successful in US but wonder what's the status in India?

Has anyone here brought a deal on these Deal sites? are deals actually good or its just hogwash?

Huh.. then what is buytheprice, and so many other sites that appear in the 'Hot Deals & Discussions'.. all are more or less same..

May be Gaurish is talking about the offline deals related to beauty parlors, eat outs etc.

Well they do work w/o any issues as most of the places give the vouchers as a part of promotional budget

Yes, city specific deals. Example:

SoSasta: Great discounts everyday!

My questions was:

1) Are they really a discount buy? or just another marketing gimmick?

2) Do merchants honour these deals?
so was looping for some feedback from anyone who has brought a deal from these sites, to know do they actually work. was the prices correct? What was their overall experience ?

@Gaurish I have used coupons from mydala, snapdeal & dealsandyou quite extensively. And yes, they did have really great deals a year back but now most of these deals look like marketing gimmicks.

AFAIK, only the Buytheprice Sandisk 8GB Pendrive deal was cool enough as far as such deals are concerned.

All other Group Buy deals on btp are overpriced.
