Hi.

So I am looking to get a new headphone. My ATH M50 is sitting back in India. And I want a new set now.

I like tracks with BASS. a lot. of em. JVC HA-SZ2000 is the one that is in my cross sights. I know nothing of audiophile world. I am a layman. So any advice is helpful.

My primary sources will be an iPhone 6 plus and a Sandisk Clip Sport. So I don't know if I need an AMP or DAC or anything like that to drive them properly.

And is burn in a real necessity?

Thanks.

jeriii too many questions.. also look at the fostex th600, jvc is supposed to be the bassiest out of the lot.. whats the retail on one of those?

ill need to go through headfi but i think u def need a dac at the bare minimum, maybe a amp too.. cuz mostly all need a good current to really shine.. they might underwhelm u otherwise..
ditch the clip sport.. get a proper player .. something like the fiio x5 mk 2 which is gonna launch soon.. and burn in works wonders.. .. i had the rx700 jvc which also sounded better after burn in ..

u dont need to white noise crap.. just start playing normal music at round 60% volume levels.. nothing higher.. for the first 48 hrs.. then u can start pushing higher if need be..

I am seeing the JVC for around 250USD. Woo the fostex is like 600USD. Way too expensive for me to spend on a headphone.

Let me know abou the Dac part. AMP?? I thought both can be the same. So is AMP a different unit other than DAC? I was under the impression a AMP is built into DAC.

Yea my usage will be desktop or on bed. But still I dont want big bulky things.

And yea, forgot to say. I may be using these in airplanes. So ones with less sound leakage is preferred. Needless to say that I wont be using these with any DAC or AMP. Just the phone or mp3 player direct. so please do consider that and let me know which is good for me.

Update time:

I got a 150USD Amazon gift card. No time like present to get this.

JVC or Philips X2/27??

I plan to use these in Office, Home and Flights. So Philips being open back, I want to get JVC. But people are going back and forth. So...

I understand the reason for the X2. However being open back meaning, I cannot use them in office or flights or places with other people in. Can I?

Thats not an option in Western Countries. :@. Office, we cannot disturb others. In Planes & Trains, others will tell to keep it down or shut it off. And not to mention the crying babies. Hence the dislike towards open back.
