puns

Super Mod
My HDD crashed . managed to recover as much data as possible ... last 20 to 25 gb is taking a lot of time ( 2 to 3 days estimate ).

any good data recovery centre in around andheri west or nearby. found a lot of such centres on the net but not sure which one to go for.

how do they charge for the recovery ? it's a bad sectors problem.

they charge a small fortune . dont expect for less.

How much is a small fortune? My WD passport crashed yesterday and I have some 120 gb of movies, tv series and music on that - downloading again would be a major pain!

oo , 120 gb is managable . movies and music can all be aqquired . Data recovery in most improtant cases , like photographs , documents , research , projects etc .

i guess its in 1000(ofcourse more than that).......i heard 1200 by somone way bak 2-3 years....also some company do only that job so dont expect 100-200 stuff.....but there are some which charges less depending on gbs

no idea about rates or if they are any good... just keep seeing their ads for data recovery in mags.

I think it's more like 4-5 thousand. My brother did it for a hard drive in our office while I was out of town, and I remember thinking that if he'd have just waited for me I could have bought another hard drive for the amount he paid.
There are so many data recovery suites out there, and he didn't even bother to try one.
s@dism- About your 120 GB drive, have you tried using any data recovery software?

Well, as of what I heard from a friend of mine who lost a lot of important documents in a HDD crash with bad sectors goes along the likes of 5k.
However that was in Orissa.
Dunno how much its in Mumbai, but I dont think it will cost you lesser than 3k.

All the best dude!!!!

About 6 years back when one of the office PC's 40GB hard drive crashed (and badly!) we lost most of our balance sheets and accounting info.

Tried a lot of recovery software nothing worked. Finally somebody in Delhi used a magnetic reading tool and read data right off the platters, worked perfectly but cost close to 17k

All the best!
