Friends,

I have WDBACY5000AXX-XX 500GB WD Passport USB 3.0 HDD ....
Today morning it failed to mount, the light is showing ON but nothing on explorer ....
Checked with different cables on different PC's yet no success ....
Its showing in the Device Manager .... updated all the SES drivers,
Installed all the WD software's from their recovery section etc etc .... but still cannot mount / recognized.
Its giving me format prompt at regular intervals after connecting it to PC's.
please help me with a solution to recover my data.

Try Partition find and mount. This proved really helpful in mounting one of my 1TB parition which went disappeared out of the blue.
 
Did you try plugging it to another computer?
That said, data is still present after a format; until you overwrite it with something else (if you use some high grade scrub then it not only formats, it also writes junk data to the drives). So you can use some recovery tools to get your data back.
Last year I mistakenly formatted my 1TB hdd via Xbox, spent days trying to recover it. Finally found - Stellar Phoenix's recovery 80% of my files.
 
So you suggesting that I should go ahead & format my drive & recover the data later ............ ???

Yes I checked on 3 different computers with 3 different cables.
