guys, my external 200GB IDE got corrupted :( :( :( :( :(

used diskkeeper / smart recovery / hdd regenerator & couple of other softwares, but unsuccessfull.

plz help me, as my HDD is still in warranty, hence don't wanna tamper
 
Corrupted as in you cant access it at all or can access but some data is corrupted?

Try Find and Mount. Has worked for me in the past.
 
Partition Magic Doctor -- works awesome for borked tables

Active @Undelete and GetDataBack I have found are awesome.
 
Go for R Studio NTFS if others are unsuccessful. Also in extreme cases you can use EnCase but it is a expensive tool
 
I recently had a very very bad hard drive experience. (READ AS: DROPPED MY DRIVE)

The 750 gig drive fell from a height of about 2 feet and now the head is completely out of alignment.

Physical problems like that need to be addressed by professional data recovery centers. I don't about you guys, but this quite honestly is the first time in almost 20 years that I have dropped an HDD and have been in need of somebody that can actually recover data from a physcially damaged drive.

Luckily enough I seem to have found a pro in Bangalore whose services people seem to be vey happy with. Infact when I met this gentleman, he whipped out his cachet of business card acquired for the week and i'm not kidding, it was in excess of a 100 cards. Anybody who is somebody seems to be his client. I've heard he is economical and doesn't overcharge... Personally, I don't know yet as I haven't received an estimate for my drive till now, but from what I saw, this guy really knows his stuff. Infact he has tied up with Seagate, so chances are that if you ask Seagate to recover your data, they will pass it on to him. If you own a Seagate drive that is still under warranty and requires data recovery, you can approach him / mail your drive to him directly. Seagate will honor the warranty if it has been opened up by him. All you have to do is show them the work order he gives you.

He informed me that a deal in the pipeline for WD as well.

Best i have ever used. I wanna know your opinion about RStudio :p Both work differently.

'GETBACKDATA' worked!!!!

I recovered 90% of the data :)

I just have one query now -

I find these files in the recovery folders along with the recovered video files..what r these files?......r they the lost data which cannot be recovered.THey r heavy files.
I cannot play them in any player.Please help.

Good to know that it worked..

I am not sure about the other files, but most probably these are previous files that have been overwritten and cannot be recovered fully, as you mentioned. I am just guessing. Someone else might know better.

@Rockfella: I have no idea about this software. I haven't used it. Let us know your opinion if you have used it. And how does it work different..?

i think i celebrated too soon.

1. None of the recovered vids r playing till the end.

2. Even then the space consumed by the video is shown as the one prior to its deletion.

so its kinda of a loss..i can c all the recovered videos,cannot play them completely yet they consume complete space. :(

The files recovered with file names play for about few minutes and then stop, the system is slowed doen for 10-15 minutes,i've to endtask it.

I recoverd the files on my transcend external drive ,then for testing i copied the files to my internal hardisk,but then too they play incomplete.i guess it has recovered files with the accurate filesize but all recovered files r now corrupted i guess ?
 
GetDataBack always works.. I too used it twice (80gb once 500gb once) all data recovers.. Some files especially vidoe files (same as yr case) are renamed automatically... some code like thing....... don worry tats normal...
