My friend having 512kbps plan and using DC ++ for downloading.
He is getting 2mbps speed using dc++

Is it true?

The speeds depend on the hub to which your DC++ client connects. If your friend is connecting to a local hub then the speeds are dependent on the actual LAN speeds, while if you connect to a hub from the internet then the speeds will be capped by your ISP. On good local hubs it is easy to get speeds of 10MBps+.

Most of the DC++ hubs are usually from the ISPs which use a cable to your building for providing connectivity. MTNL Triband does not allow this and I am not sure whether reliance wimax does. Check on "broadband forums india" for your specific area/ISP wise details.

It can be true, Fivenet gives local DC Hubs which even gave me 5MB at a time.
This happens only when you are inside Fivenet's local LAN.

Otherwise, it is standard ISP connection speed provided to you.

Depends on ISP you are using... Which you are using currently ?
Basically this is an ISP supported feature which is mostly discouraged now a days...

Check with tech. person at cable internet supplier, they will not disclose it at first, if you are lucky there is a chance.

Does it work on reliance wireline? I set up a HUB and tried sending a file to another friend of mine using reliance wireline for a few mins it went at ~2 mBps and then it fell to my upload speed.
