The following RAM seems to be quite popular in Newegg & suitable both for AMD & Intel

Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

ICC is quoting a price of Rs 3,000 for the same including taxes & duties delivered to India

If we make a group order, the cost will come down as ICC Charges & shipping charges will remain the same for multiple orders also

Is it worthwhile to buy the same as we are forsaking the warranty ?

Also cost for the same in India -It is DDR3 1600 cl9 Gskill Ripjaws

Experienced members recommendations on the choice of the RAM & comments on the feasibility will be appreciated

Thanks for advising

Better vouch for the local purchase over an import. For a measly difference in pricing, it doesn't make sense. And if the RAM turns out to be DOA, you've to bear the expenses of sending it to Taiwan (which btw isn't all that expensive but local warranty FTW!).

The same Gskill is around 3400 or so in the market with local warranty. Even better get the Corsair XMS3 2 X 2GB 1600Mhz CL9 at 2.7k or so :)

Now a days newegg is getting as expensive as India :P

Let me know if anyone is interested in the XM3 2 x 2GB at 2.6~2.7k....we can do a GO for a bulk order :D

The idea of this thread was to take advantage of the low prices of RAM

RAM prices are at a all time low & I dont think it will continue for long

I am ready to buy 4 GB or 8GB RAM as suggested by Supra locally @2.6 to 2.7k in a GO

The only condition is that the RAM should be suitable for both Intel & AMD platform as I do not know what my upgrade will be

Itwares in quoting 2950 + shipping but he may reduce in a GO

CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 - 2950/- + Shipping

However, this model is recommended only for i5 & i7 as per Newegg site

Any other Corsair DDR3 1600 which is suitable for both AMD & Intel platforms ?

I could find this on Newegg site

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233141

@Supra I think you should start a GO for a popular & VFM RAM suitable for both AMD & INTEL mobos

Please post the complete specs of the RAM you are proposing so that the members can verify the compatibility.

Let me know if you need any input from my side

What newegg meant up there was that the RAM has enhanced features for those processors (i5 and i7) eg. XMP profile.

I have this exact same RAM which I bought for my system a couple of months back (for 5.4k :( ). It works perfectly with AMD configuration, only problem was that it had slight difficulty reading the timing, so you'll have to manually set that in the BIOS.

Its currently running at 1800Mhz with 8-9-8-24. I would highly recommend it at 3k

We may get it at 2.7k incl VAT for 4GB sets as per Supra if we buy 40-50 GB in a GO

30GB tentatively confirmed

What are you waiting for ?
