According to iSuppli the last half of the IHS have DDR3 RAM represent 89% of the 808 million units shipped, compared with 67% last year and 24% in 2009 compared to the DDR2 technology represents 9% of the market the same period. DDR3 shipments will increase during the next two years – in 2012 to 92% and 94% in 2013.
All this before the final “decay†at the end of 2014, when it will finally enter mass production of DDR4 RAM.
Originally DDR4 standard had to be completed in 2011 and the first production was to start in 2012, but it seems that (according to iSuppli) will delay the DDR4 probably due to the new interface point-to-point with the memory controller that will reach 4266 MHz .
We must then wait a while ‘before they see DDR4 and, for now, we will have to settle for Notre DDR3.
