Based on the reviews, if you are a basshead, you will LOVE these. It meets my criteria, and I'm paying 50% of it (missed the TF10 deal sadly as I wasn't online that day) - so I guess it's not bad! Read up a LOT of reviews, and while at $150 these are expensive, for half the price I guess it's a great deal for most.

Price: $58.99

current RBI USD value: Rs.45.38/- per $

Bank's Foreign Currency Charges: 3.5%

Other Charges.. educational tax etc will amount to 1.5% at max, thus total tax = 5%

Item cost: 58.99 x 45.38 x 1.05 = Rs.2811/-

i'm assuming it wont weigh above 500gm... so shipping via shop n ship:

10USD + 10.33% tax + Bank's charges = 10 x 45.38 x 1.1033 x 1.05 = Rs.526/-

total = 2811 + 526

so unless there is Custom duty, it shall cost Rs.3337/- delivered to your address via Shop n Ship
 
I was actually charged $64 to ship to the Shop and Ship address (used Amazon Prime for express shipping since I want them before end of this year) - 5 dollars in taxes. Total debited amount 2913. No customs duty, I spoke to one of the product managers at Shop and Ship today, they can mostly get in as gift as it is a low value item. So I guess for about 3.3-3.4 it's not a bad deal at all :)
 
My hands are itching to buy these via the Aramex thingie for 3.3k but I think they will charge some customs duties for sure .Maybe around 20-30% duty will bring the costs to 4k-ish and at that price I would expect them to be better than my M3 in terms of detailing .

This is confusing :S.Reviews suggest these have monstrous bass but with an amazing attack and decay . Is the overall SQ better than most 100$ IEMs ??
 
Also this product has direct shipping option to India by Amazon , so one can buy it without Aramex as well.
 
Yes but with direct shipping it costs $93 odd including shipping insurance.

I spoke to Shop and Ship guys and they said they cannot guarantee duty free shipping but they can try. Someone pointed out that customs is 10% on these, while the product manager at Aramex claims it's 27%. Can anyone confirm?
 
^ The official duty is more like 27-28% for earphones/speakers . Additional taxes might be charged over the 28% customs duty . All this only if the product doesnt come through duty-free.

I need to hear from someone I know before I jump onto this .I am sure my TF10s and RE-252 will be lot better than this but the ears are itching for some monster bass :ashamed:.
 
Sent out another email to Shop and Ship. Will keep you guys posted. I linked them to: http://www.cbec.gov.in/customs/cst-0910/chap-85.pdf which clearly states that the import duty is 10% and not more. And further, I had included a gift note with these earphones. I've had earphones from MEE shipped to me before, and I have never paid any duty on them as the price was clearly mentioned (no duty for items up to Rs. 4000 if I remember correctly) - so I am not too worried.

Update:

"Dear <abc>,
10 % is the basic duty which is mentioned in chapter 85. There are other taxes which is included and hence the duty becomes 27 %. We will surely try to make it duty free. Shipments with value below 10000 can be claimed as duty free. As I said, it can only be CLAIMED. Hence we are unable to promise . we will do our best from our side :)"
 
damn :@ :@ By the time I could create a new Aramex Shop and ship account , THE price of Monster turbines went up from 60$ to 134$ :( :(. The goldbox deal is over !

My cousin bought 4 of them on 2nd Dec...(initially only 1 for me)

He thought its a wastage of money to spend 3K on headphone

He kept 1 with him and passed other 3 to me..,,

1 is with me..., 2 others I gave to someone At office..
 
So the order has been shipped from Shop and Ship. Apparently the package weight is 1.25lbs even though Amazon indicated it would be 1lb as the shipping weight. Really disappointed about that and very unhappy with Amaramex that I'm being charged extra (UPS priority delivery said the package weight was only 1.20lbs which is 54 grams over weight).

I hope I don't get charged customs now on top of this. I was looking at the Dell X35 thread here, and it seems Aramex is notorious for overcharging customs in Mumbai.

Madnav - did you order this via Aramex as well?

It must be about 1.25lbs only if it contains everything....

Reason for Heavy Weigth-U'll know once you get it...

Probably 1lb is the dead weight. 1.25 lbs is the volumetric weight. Happens all the time with courier companies.

I know the housings of these phones are quite heavy, but yes, it must be the volumetric weight as Santhosh pointed out.

It's okay, I guess it's just a one time thing, don't think I'll be using Shop and Ship a lot. They have a lot of silly rules like you cannot consolidate shipments and have them ship to you, even for 54 grams you are charged extra, and they cannot guarantee duty free shipping for such a low priced item.

I'm anyway going to buy a few IEMs in the next couple of months, will probably get them shipped directly or ask my friends to carry them for me.
