Dealextreme NAS Not working :(

I thought of writing a review on this product( DealExtreme: $41.23 Standalone BitTorrent BT Client + UPNP USB/NAS/FTP/SAMBA/Printer Sharing Network LAN Server ) today but unfortunately i had to create this HELP thread :(

So this is what happened:
I recieved the NAS from Dealextreme yesterday. Connected it. Configured it. Uploaded a torrent. Worked fine. Finished downloading torrent with good speeds aswell.
Turned it OFF in the night.

Then Today:
Uploaded a new ~700MB Torrent. It started downloading and completed ~10% and the story begins now!
Iam unable to login to the Web Admin (192.168.0.101 in my case) even though the device is turned on and Power LED glows. Then i found that the Ethernet Cable connected to the NAS used to glow but now its not glowing.
Then i changed the cable, did a reset of the NAS. .still NO USE. :(

What can be the problem? I will be glad if people using this device can help me..

Was there thundering at night? If there was, was your NAS on standby or was the power cord disconnected? If it was on standby, I think thundering has damaged the device.
 
There was no thundering and all.

I had removed the power cable which is connected to the NAS as there is no power switch to it.

And also it is connected to Belkin Spike Buster! And it worked for some time in the morning also! So i don't think thundering has damaged the device.
 
u can try this..

1) connect cable to NAS.

2) see if u are getting connectivity.

3) if no, then disconnect NAS, and connect Laptop / Desktop at the same location on the same wire.

4) check connectivity for a while

5) try the factory 'restore' or 'reset' if present on the device.
 
I think what has happend is that the NAS device got a new IP address somehow. Try ping that IP and see if you get response ( i know even if its dead you wont get a response but you can probe default IPs mentioned in the manual as well )

It happened with me once with beetel router.

I'm guessing IP would have changed, By default I dont think NAS is accessable at 192.168.0.101 it is something else. So if you had changed it initially it might have reverted back..

But as i said in the 1st post, the Ethernet Port is not glowing when it is connected. It should glow irrespective of the IP address right?

coz it was glowing the 1st time i connected ethernet cable to it.

And also i didnot change/configure any IP adress. 192.168.0.101 was the default!

Create a rma with dealextreme then and you will have to provide them good explaination with pics of the product.If your explanation is good enough they will replace it asap.
 
Yes...

Even if IP was a issue the Network jacs light have to be glowing...

The orange for connection/connectivity and the green for network activity.

If it is less than $___(less than 30% of the item price), please go ahead and return it to address below, and take a picture of the proof of shipment (receipt, certificate of posting, tracking number stub, etc) after you have shipped it. We will arranged the replacement and reimbursement for your return postage after the package is received and processed.

PS: Please use the cheapest way to ship the item(s) back. Courier services such as EMS, UPS, Fedex, TNT, DHL etc are NOT eligible for return shipping cost reimbursements

I have learnt a lesson with this. NEVER BUY AN EXPENSIVE(Nothig more than Rs.2000) CHINEESE PRODUCT :(
 
Well, i have dispatched the defected NAS to Hong Kong today through India Post and damn they charged Rs.485 for it :( :(

Now it takes around 20days to reach Hong Kong and then they take 10days to inspect and dispatch a new/refurbished piece and then again 20 days to reach my house. Total ~30days!

This is bullsh!t man.

Never ever ever never ever going to buy anything from Dealextreme again.
 
I've placed numerous orders from DealExtreme, not once did I face any issues..

Maybe you were unlucky to get a defective piece or unwilling to resole the issue yourself. Even when DX staff is granting you a replacement, why are u b**ching?

If you want a quick delivery ship through a pvt courier service or Indian Speed Post (EMS)
 
^^They specially told me not to send through courier services like FedEX or DTDC...

Its not that 100% surely they are going to replace. They told they will inspect it and then decide!
