CPU/Mobo Dec 2007: AMD vs. Intel?? Help in choosing!

Man wait till JAN ok, the 790 Chipset + Phenom Quadcore (which will available at unbelievable prices) will make a great combo for u, u dont need a dedicated GFX .

memnom tx for the brief. Went through the review at tomshardware and the info at Planet3DNow (I am fluent in German!) and have decided to wait for the final retail versions of the Phenom and new 790 chipset mobos. The cost factor, the comparative energy efficiency and the future-proof build of the mobos is decisive.

hahaha! Hitler would have bundled you for free with the "linguistically challenged" groups and had you sent to the nearest gas chamber for a quick exit! That's funny man, which translator did you used? Actually all of these online translators have the same shortcomings and processing speed wouldn't make any diff!

On the other hand, if you want raw power then Intel Quad core is the way to go. btw dont even think about Pheonem for now. The cheapest I have seen a Pheonem 9500 in India is selling for 10.6k and for that kind of money you can get an Intel Q6600 which can easility beat the shit out of Phenom 9500.

Agreed. I am egerly waiting for the phenom prices to come down to some 6-7l level...It just might become the next cheapest quad core...placed in between the e6750 and the q series !!!

Phenom with the TLB patch is 30% slower then an Quad 6600, makes no sense waiting for it. Go as Sangram suggested calculate the work done per hour and divide it by the energy consumed. My guess if your work is processor dependent then Intel will trump even a Sempron BE in this regard.

Hi Kingkong, i suggest you settle down for a Q6600 with an appropriate motherboard; i suppose you are not interested in Overclocking hence go for a motherboard without the frills. As far as phenoms are concerned, they lag well behind the Q6600 so no point waiting for the price to come down. i would say you should wait for the Penryn procs to come out they have 47 new SSE4 instructions and that should give a good boost to your encoding work.
