All this time, it was US gathering the data that's why there were no "national security" implications. As soon as some other country develops an AI, they declare this
If you provide any AI chatbot/agent with sensitive information in the prompt, it's bound to be a security/privacy problem. This is why many companies have blocked the chatgpt and similar domains in their internal firewall to prevent employees from giving unauthorised access to their data.

But people like shortcuts more than ethics so many of them have used prompts on their personal devices using their respective org's code. I think we are past that point where it was a concern.
Now atleast there is a choice in whether you would like to provide your data to CCP or Uncle Sam

Side Note: TikTok was found to be harvesting data of its users and no one in the current US government seems to mind since they reinstated the app and Trump gave them an extension of 75-90 days when he got elected. WHY? Probably because they are a huge company and paid money to avoid the ban. I guess DeepSeek can't afford to "lobby" the US government.
So yes US officials do have selective ethical concerns when it comes to security and data privacy.

If am not mistaken, deepseek does not require internet and can be hosted in isolated environment.
India should learn from it as from any other AI engine or other forms of technology.
Let USA do USA things, we Indians can at least attempt to learn something by our self ?

If India will do or attempt to do or learn something self (NEW) than how will satisfy USA & China progress Lovers in India because we always set our Parameter on USA/China Scale.
... because when you do something different/new it tend to fail or may be trend setters.

I have limited knowledge about AI (DeepSeek etc.) but how you can hosted it in isolated environment when you can downlead it as Adnroid App (for individual users?) in Mobile .. sorry if I mistaken how AI works ...

Indegenous Fast Breeder Reactor was developed by our scientists whithout steady supply of nuclear fuel from Nuclear Supplier Group of which we dont have any membership at all & still trying to get NSG membership but china doesnt agree.
This Indegenous FBR is in 3rd stage now means we re-use the spent fuel from the 2nd stage and use it in our 3rd stage FBRs.
This was developed by BHAVINI scientists from Kalpakkam where I reside. These guys have separate township within our own township.
Last time in Oct,2024 our PM came for loading fuel to the nuclear reactor in kalpakkam. There are 4 nuclear reactors of one has been initiated now.

Regarding Indegenous Nuclear Submarine, even in this our scientists developed in BARC & IGCAR where a working prototype was made in 2003 but after fitting in the sub and several sea trials after was inducted in 2016. This programme was initiated in 1996. It took 20 years but to develop it took only 8 years. Such is the prowess of our scientists.

Don't ever under estimate our capability. We may be slow in developing after we see the finished product every developed country always say wow. Last time scientists from France came to Kalpakkam for a visit and were surprised to see our progress. They are also into 3rd stage. Same is regarding ISRO's Chandrayan.

Regarding the development so many private vendors supply parts to our Nuclear Programme and Space Research Programme. Now we dont import them at all, we make ourselves.

Facilities & Amenities given to employees are very good regarding Air Travel (of course for officers & scientists), Non-Stop Electricity Supply 365/24hours to the Townships anywhere in India. ACES Schools with separate Board with reduced fees like 8k for all girls until 6th class, 16k till 12th class. This will be re-imbursed later on after 3 months. So just free education for employees children. Even outsider children are admitted and that too in limited numbers only but fees are more. Everything is to be paid to only SBI School Account. There is a DAV school here in Kalpakkam which gives the same fee structure to employees. Every school has teachers for special children.

Now, if you are trying to learn AI, you are aping USA or China. It's not new, its already done and is here, we are not there yet and trying to cope.
The ultimate idea should be you have to do it yourself, but no harm in learning from everywhere and utilize the best option.

I thought deepseek uses the same openai stolen/pirated material but the underlying mathematical thought process is better. So US military is directly saying openai is a security risk?
