Linux Default Mozilla Thunderbird junk mail setting

Just started using Mozilla Thunderbird 2 and I quite like it, the biggest issue I am facing at the moment is the fact that even though it identifies the junk mail and marks them, it leaves them in the inbox. Which means I have to manually delete them, while in outlook and outlook express, I had them configured to move the junk/spam emails automatically to trash folder.

Is there a way something similar can be done in Thunderbird, without using any plugins?

Just go to tools --> Options --> Privacy --> Junk and then check the option to move the junk to junk folder
