hello,

my system is as follows
amd X4 630
2 gb transcend ram(800)
gigabyte 785g-us2h mobo(rev 1.0.default bios,which came with it.no OC)
corsair vx 450
WD 3200aaks hdd
sony dru-870s sata dvd-rw
samsung ide dvd-combo drive
no floppy drive attached.

yesterday,i had this problem-whenever i inserted a cd/dvd into my drive(i use the sony one only, samsung is just there, connected),it gave an error
DISK IS NOT
FORMATTED. WINDOWS CANNOT READ FROM THIS DISK. THE DISK
MIGHT BE CORRUPTED OR IT COULD BE USING A FORMAT THAT IS
NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS
i just shut down the computer and left it.today,my bro switched on the pc,went into the bios and fiddled with some settings, and restarted.now, the dvd drive works, but,it takes a lot of time(booting).first,it goes to the energy-star screen, shows detecting ide drives, etc.then,it comes to another screen where it says,
Verifying DMI Pool Data ..................
it takes a bit of time.then loads.before, this verifying screen would just be there for a fraction of a second.
also, there was this error where it would load some screen, where some amd hyper disk utility would show, and ask if the drives were to be kept in ide or achi mode.after selecting ide mode, this went away.
i kinda panicked and put fail-safe defaults in the bios, but, its still the same.
is this delay any issue of any sort?how can i fix it?please guide.now, windows is fine, the oDD reads disks, but i am a bit worried.
thanks

@surajspai

try resetting the bIOs. Remove and re-insert the CMOS battery on the motherboard.

Apparently your DVD drive is dead/non-functional. Boot time is getting delayed because BIOS keeps reading DVD, but fails to do so.

Unplug both your DVD drives + reset BIOS again, and report back.

Check your powersupply with a multimeter. are you getting enough Voltage and Amps. I had a cheapo SMPS , and I faced similar problems.

You have a great PS, but you still might wanna check.

Also replace your mobo battery if it's old.

unplugged both dvd drives, removed the battery, left it for a while(?).tried the sata drive in my pop's pc,works fine.then,i went to bios,(without dvd drive),set 1st boot device to hdd.no issue.plugged the sata dvd drive in,no change in bios, and it works fine.
mostly,i will have it checked(in warranty).haven't connected the ide drive this time.was that giving problems?

also,i chose to keep the option ide in the amd hyperdisk utility screen,so i guess its in ide itself?dont mess around with the bios or OC,so dont know much about it.choosing achi there gave me blue screen twice.

also, digging around on the internet, some fellows reported updating the bios solved their problem.should i do that?mobo is a older version(rev 1.0) isnt it?so,the bios will be the one which was factory installed.since it is working now,i dont want to mess with it again.

i guess that fixes it?thanks!

i mean there are two sata modes , ide and ahci... The later is natively supported only in vista and win 7 i think....
