Not to mention politicians who see everything as conspiracy against them. Case in point, Mamta Banerjee. According to her, literally every rape that happens in Kolkatta/Bengal is a conspiracy to bring down her government. And all rape victims are loose characters given to lying.

Finally, when a honest IPS policeman cracks the crime, he is shunted out of Kolkatta for 'contradicting' her. Damn, even truth is being raped, not just women.

Add to that the CM (who is ironically a woman too) and the Police Commissioner even questioned what she was doing in a bar at night? One of the ministers of her cabinet remarked that she is working for an "escort" service even before any police inquiry!!

The IPS officer (DC, Detective deprtment) who led the investigation and established that it was indeed a rape was transferred to a administrative post within one month

If so many police and politicians are blaming women for getting raped, there must be some truth in it right?

This is nothing but a conspiracy to show our honest politicians and loyal policemen as corrupt villains. The only corrupt ones are those who ignored orders to pursue the so called rape case. They should be thankful that they weren't sacked.

And to those who get offended by a guy liking a girl, it's natural. But rape is not. Being too idealistic is also a cause for blaming the victims of rape.
 
How ignorant these cops are!

It also tells us about their mentalities i.e what they think of today's women. That's ridiculous!

Unable to control rapists, hence blame on victim themselves!

If India was like what they wanted, India wouldn't been a democratic country(even if it would have been called one).

Now, I don't want to compare, but in US and others, the dressing style is even more "exciting", but you won't find many rapists there.

This is because sexual molesters are looked upon not as humans, but animals, and the people think that they don't deserve to live normal life and should be deprived of social life.

Whereas in India it takes years to prove it, and top of it society accepts them after punishment!
 
I dont think the cops by themselves can provide protection to everyone, considering the fact that we have security cameras in every corner, finger print database,ultra fit policemen, modern weapons and a damn good research team

It isn't about providing protection to every citizen. If authorities like police and court are able to bring criminal to justice as soon as possible, then others will think hundred times before committing such crimes. Our police officers, however, lacks enthusiasm and willingness to investigate such crimes because it is easier to blame victims for the crime committed. And our justice system... it is described as 'tarikh pe tarikh' by Sunny Deol, and rightly so.

Add these to mentalities of rapists (1. Male Superiority, 2. Inability to digest 'No' 3. 'Screw the law, I have money' attitude) and you will know why criminals aren't afraid of committing crimes.
 
I just read the other day that the conviction rate of murders is just ~6% in Bangalore, and it is the most serious of crimes. What might be the conviction rate of other crimes when the Police aren't investigating even the serious of crimes properly?
 
Well in my theory, to curb rapes in metros and 2-3 tier cities following steps could be implemented

1. make ladies bars and ladies service bars legal

2. make prostitution legal.

3. make adult channels and porn channels legal, they could relay adult programs in mid-night

4. Make sex education as a compulsory in 9-10th class.

BTW a tip of our politicians

government could also implement 12.5% service tax on prostitution to earn extra income.
 
More than anything else we need educated cops or better sheriff system, where these uniform wearing idiots can be reminded of their duties on a timely basis.

It seems like a permanent thing on the news websites about a rape or two, feticides and girl child getting abused.

The so called emancipation of the oppressed has opened the floodgates to the uncouth and uneducated strata which would have otherwise come into the mainstream after due 'evolving' phase had been completed. Fine mess we have now with us.
