Dell has of late had problems with their Ultrasharp 24" panels. Here are some disgruntled customers of 2408WFP. All this from just one forum and thats the scary part ...
I dont have first hand experience with 2408WFP... I would like to imagine that these experiences are not a pattern, but its important that we do enough research and make informed purchase decisions.

The original 2407WFP (if that is the one you have) is an awesome monitor, I was very happy with it (until it broke). 2407WFP-HC has problems and the 2408WFP is even worse.
I'm also not satisfied with the font display on the 2408WFP. I've activated ClearType, but I can clearly see some colored pixels around the characters. I know ClearType is probably (partly) responsible for this, but it never bothered me on other LCD displays. Could this be attributed to that "rainbow" effect?
Would love to know if others have the same blue/green issues. Some examples on where to see this obvious color problem: Simpsons Movie - sky will always appear to be greenish. Transformers Movie - watch from beginning when evil helicopter flying over desert sand dunes, shadows of the dunes appear green. 24 - chairs in CTU board room become purple, supposed to be blue. It's everywhere.
I will start refund with Dell soon for only 1 reason .. the color. At first I was all concerned with the possible input lag which after 5 days or so I don't notice anymore. I have no bad pixel or bad backlight bleed. No buzzing sounds, heat problems or anything ... this monitor is fantasic ... BUT ... after 4 days of trying to calibrate the color, I am giving up. Despite hardware and software calibrations, different presets, windows display setting changes, I cannot get this LCD to look right. Mainly the problems are in the blue shades. On my screen 75% of blue tones look to be turquois ... IE ... a blue/green mix, like aqua. All the other colors seem to reporduce correctly. This is really too bad because if it were not for this, I'd buy another.
I am also annoyed by the sharpness problem others report. Connected via DVI, text in windows looks pixelated. Sit further back and it's less noticable but then text become too small to read, sit closer and you burn your retinas. I could live with this honestly if not for the color problem.
