Design is good, specs are weak. With a ridiculous price like that, they need to launch it at a pretentious fashion event wonly :D

wtf :O only 1.2 Ghz processor ?

Is that a joke/typo or some different kind of a processor ?

It should have been atleast a 2.0Ghz proc, what a shameful thing :|

Nope, the specs are right considering that it's designed to run all day like the mac air. The U9300 is an ultra-low voltage processor with a TDP of only 10W. It runs like a C2D (well, almost) but sips like an Atom. The cost of the processor itself is $262.

Why would anyone want to run these things all day long ?

or did you mean it takes 1 whole day to process stuff  ? j/k

Frankly, 1.2ghz is too damn slow for any laptop at this price point, indeed shameful of them.

Apart from that, the looks are breath-taking :)

Err.. join the job of a consultant and you'll know. :)

2-4 hour flights with no power port in the shitty A320s and 737s that dot our skies, a few hours at terminals where the nearest power socket is outside the bloody airport, meetings in some obscure room with the electric port too far away etc. etc.

There are the usual 30-50k laptops for someone who uses a laptop for only a few minutes or hours every day. I'm not saying that this is a good choice for anyone since the price is prohibitively expensive (and I'll take a Thinkpad over some nonsense Dell anyday), but nevertheless, this is yet another choice available in the market, probably for CEOs who need to stay a cut above the managers and VPs.

Tell me this, even after paying 120k and above if the word "compromise" still appears like a tattoo on the forehead. Does it make sense ?

Agreed to what you say, but why simply make it so expensive for the speed that its offering, why dont they just stick to Atom (Just increase the clock speed!?) if they want low powered CPU's.

Bringing that into consideration, the cost of Adamo would drastically come down and produce more fanbois like me

And also, that move would mean realistic competition with you-know-who :)

A higher clocked Atom cannot match a C2D due to very simple logic - the Atom is a single core processor. Besides, Vista would probably run on it like a hippo on a fast treadmill.

Dell already has the Studio, XPS and Studio XPS lines for people who want nice design coupled with the usual specs. This is probably meant as a halo or flagship laptop to compete head-on with Cupertino's finest. If you remember, the base price of the original MacBook was quite low but the new aluminum one has gone up in price, same goes for the old vs new iMac for no real upgrade in specs. Apple couldn't care less if 99.9% of the population can't buy or afford its stuff as they're targeting "professionals" and "image conscious" people. Buying an Adamo or MacBook is like buying a car. You can buy a 250hp Honda or a slower 150hp Bimmer that's twice the price but is (usually) built better.

Bah, don't even compare the MBA with this abomination

Not only is the MBA cheaper, it has far better specs, and (at least to my eye) looks better too

To each his own?????

:) I gues most ceo's will have their own ego's and will prefer something that 99.99% of the world will not be able to buy..

It is like designer labels..Shah Rukh Khan would not wear what most of the world can afford and do will he?
