PC Peripherals Dell FPW2405

2407WFP is touted to have more problems than 2405FPW. But now Rev 03 is out for 2407 and its supposed to have fixed all the problems. Its different from the 2007WFP and 3007WFP in that it uses a Samsung S-MVA Panel as againist the S-IPS Panel in the other two models.

yeah.. the only dilemma is that I won't be able to game, as the res will be too much for any card to handle, I can imagine prey @ 1920 x 1200 on any of my 3 cards.. maybe if all 3 could be used simultaniously............:p
 
^^y do u need to game at the max resolution ???

will gaming at 1024*778 or 1280*1024 look bad on it ????

i am a noob and want to clarify this.
 
^^ LCD's are not good at anything but native resolutions because they don't scale the image as well as the crt's resulting in jagged outlines & edges... however I sometimes have to play at 1024x768 on my 1208x1024 LCD & don't notice much difference, specially in fast action games, but you would be able to make it out on a when standing still.

Don't take my word for it look at the reviews, even if you play at lower than native resolutions it gives an admirable performance. and Scaling has improved quite a lot not only in this panel but LCDs in general (20"+ that is).

And after the crappy 17" CRT you using now this will look nothing less than exellent. ;)

generally native resolutions look good on an LCD and nothing else..... however this difference is reducing steadily.... Still at something like 1024x768 (which is a far cry from the 1920 x 1200 native, gaming will suck).... 1440 x 900 may be a bit better...

i guess ill wait till the diff between playing at 1024*768 and the native resolution becomes neglible .. :bleh:

my card cant go more than 1024*768 sadly.
 
my dad just returned from sg and it seems that the 2407 is available at the comex expo for 1200sgd. Offer is applicable only till sept3rd. Thats quite a steal.

Ya..you are right. The deal currently offered in India is way too good. You are getting the display for 40k with 5 years warranty. The US Price for the Monitor after $131 discount comes to 37k ($800). UK Price comes to 64k. Local warranty at 4k more is quite a good bargain.

2405 uses the Genesis 1601 scaler, which is till date the best internal scaler available for flagship LCD's - games at 1280x1024 look pretty good, however 1920x1200 will blow you away. Pls. ensure that you use a ATI 18xx or Nvidia G7x card, on DVI instead of VGA.

I personally use two 2405's which were delivered by Dell India :)
 
matter of personal opinion, but i thought gaming looks better on my 2407 compared to my other 2405... so now i've switched the 2405 to my server rig, and using the 2407 on my gaming rig plus xbox360...
