Am looking for a 14" laptop with core-i5, 4GB RAM and 500 GB HDD (apart from the other essentials) within a budget of 40K (not really looking for models with separate GPU).

Visited Ritchie Street yesterday and came across a Dell (Inspiron 14) which fits the above requirements.
Am just looking for feedback regarding this model, any known problems etc..

TIA

i thinkk the earlier dell xps 13 had some heating issues , none of this kind in the new inspiron or studio 14 inch models , inspiron has been dell's bread and butter model , not much known problems , quite stable system IMO

I would suggest Inspiron 1464 any day..

Just see the look of 1464 & 14R at the same time. 14R looks way bad infront of 1464.

Have Inspiron 1464, let me know if you need any info on it.

How long does the battery last on this? Does it get hot during usage?

is this with a core-i5, 4GB, 500GB hdd?

Friend got a Inspiron 14R recently, While using it I observed it was NOT heating up that much. Was able to operate it comfortably for an hour or so on my Lap.

These are good laptop in ur budget just that the build quality is little inferior to studio or SXPS but anyway these perform decently and the cooling implementation is good in newer inspirons unlike the old ones and dissapiate heat more efficiently and also easy to clean should ur fan get clogged which was very difficult in old models wherin you had to disassemble the whole laptop :/

This is for a friend who is going for studies hence programming, reading, communicating with friends/family and some movie watching (not really into gaming) would be the main uses.

Thanks it sounds positive so far. :) So plan to get this by today.

Inspiron 1464

Core i3, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, got with 1 year Complete Cover, Comes with Intel HD Graphics (Dont want external graphics as takes too much power & generates heat),

Intel HD can even play 1080p smoothly. Has HDMI so connect to LCD & ejoy.

No heat up issue at all. fan noise is audible after 5 hours of use for max of 5 seconds.

Had gone out today and came across this "HP Pavilion DV4-2112TU" which seems to have a good config and costs around 44K.

One interesting feature it had was a removable DVD drive.

Anyone knows how this compares to the Dell Inspirion 14R / 1464?

Got the Inspiron 14R for 41K today and finding it good so far. :D
Spec: 14", Corei5-450, 4GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, Intel GMA HD
