Hi, I have zeroed in to buying dell inspiron 15R with i5,1gb nvidia gt525 etc and this one on ebay looks very attractive but is it really worth buying?? has any one bought from this seller and is he trust worthy?

http://www.ebay.in/i...=item415f91da5a

Also I will be taking delivery in mumbai so what octroi will be charged along with the price?

Any other suggestions in same price bracket of 40k?

^Since he is a power seller, he is trust worthy.

Under 40k, nothing beats this- Asus K53sv.

I dislike inspiron due to following reasons-

1) Worst keyboard.

2) Build quality not upto the mark.

3) Cooling solution fails after 1 year. (Asus' brushed aluminium built works better)

I have a 5% off ebay coupon so is it available on ebay? and I want to buy something from dell, lenovo or sony even if it doesnt have such heavy graphics it would be fine.Am doubtfull about asus or acer.

Build is indeed so so.... but still its good atleast for the new N5110 model. Please elaborate on the cooling issue since I got one few months back. Now using it with X-Lite cooler though & with the 2nd gen Sandybridge processor it doesn't heat up much.

Even i don't like Inspiron !

Acer TimelineX 5830TG is a great option for 40k. It is neck to neck with k53 but scores on build quality and keyboard. Plus TimelineX series laptops have great battery life.

I can't say about the 2nd gen. but I'm using an inspiron (first gen) from 1 year which heats up now even on light use of 1 hr. I can't imagine working on it on a bed.

And yeah, 2nd gen SBs are a lot lot better than first gen counterparts. so may be the issue is solved now. Still I don't like insipron.

My neighbour has 1st Gen Core i3 lappy & it does get pretty hot compared to my 2nd gen Core i5. I use X-lite only while gaming & since it has Optimus the heat output is within lower range while doing day to day work. Build quality has also improved from the earlier Inspiron 15R though not by leaps & bound.

What I like about N5110 among other things is the connectivity options available & with sandybridge the battery backup that I get but keyboard indeed lacks feel while typing...

beware of those imported laptops , i bought a laptop from same seller and its now showing under indian warranty on dell site , another laptop which i bought from roshiniinfotech on ebay had not mentioned that its an import laptop , later the seller said its in international warranty , on calling dell they denied the same , now he said the service tag transfer will take place soon .

even if powerseller, call seller and ask for service tag no and check on dell site , only then buy dell laptops from ebay .

Hey thnx robogost i will verify it and do you know any thing about octroi in Mumbai?

M thinking of buying from official dell india ebay store

^. I would agree. If there was anything like International warranty on DELL laptops then a lot of sellers would be selling it for cheap on eBay.

Service tag no should be confirmed beforehand...

Just got an update on my case : ebay closed the case saying we cant help in product damaged case AS ITS UNDER MANUFACTURER's WARRANTY !!

its under US warranty , and they are not agreeing that its not under warranty, ebay is biased to its sellers and closed the guarantee claim , saying its in our policy that we dont provide support for under warranty products .

it means that anyone could sell a US warranty product mentioning that its under warranty and thus fool the buyers . please DO NOT BUY DELL OR OTHER LAPTOPS FROM ebay ! most sellers are taking advantage of this and selling imported laptops .

the 2 sellers who did this are clickbuy.in and roshiniinfotech .now i am left with damaged laptops which are not even under warranty .

hello, i just signed up to the forum seeing your topic..

I got a dell inspiron 15r (n5110) last month..

its got an i5 processor, 4 gb ram and 500 gb hard drive.. and intel hd graphics... windows 7 home.

Its a wonderful laptop on low budget... everything works fine...

ya the keyboard is a little delicate, when keys are pressed(i have habit of pressing with force..as on desktop keybord) the pad goes inside a little but not a problem in functionality...

also the body is shiny so it attracts finger prints and oil from hands...

I liked the laptop as i am performance conscious and not design or eye-candy conscious..

they say here that the processor heats up but i havent experienced such things, ya only during gaming the temp goes till 65-70 and fan starts to run...

my friend owns a lenovo laptop(same processor, ram and harddrive) it heats up more than mine and fan is always on..

normally during browsing and office work its passive cooling(fan doesnt run) and temp is 45-50 degrees cel and the side(the heat vent) near the on/off button gets warm.. ..so i think the fan wouldnt go bad in a year... completely wrong.

the palm rest area on the left side of touch pad gets a little warm, i think the hard drive is there...

battery gives 4 hrs backup on browsing, it doesnt get warm... my phone gets warm during charging..

I would completely disagree on the negative comments given here..

also this has inbuilt bluetooth which nowadays many laptops dont have, some have lesser usb ports... this one is in perfect balance...

I tell you one thing...

everyone is a fan or favors a manufacturer and will do anything to recommend his favored product...

I like nokia and will tell everyone to buy the same, but you might disagree...

I am not favouring dell as i havent played with other laptops... I am writing my experience...

So review the specs... check your requirements... check the support(repair center and all such) and go for it...

Thank you @hhhbbb for this little review I am certainly going for it now but still deciding where to buy from...mostly will be buying it from letsbuy
