1. How watchable movies will be on a 13.3" display will vary from person to person, but you can always hook it up via HDMI to an LCD/Plasma TV.

2. Looks/performance: both look great, except the black XPS attracts fingerprints.

3. M1530 has a better GPU, but since the notebook is not for gaming, you won't miss the 8600GT.

4. Nobody can tell when higher res displays will be available through Dell India, not even the folks at Dell I guess.

I hope that answers your questions... overall, I'm really impressed by the WLED display on the M1330. The 1280x800 res will take some getting used to since I've been on higher resolutions for over 2 years now, but I don't see an issue here.

frankly as RiO put it... although its personal pref... a bigger screen never harmed the movie watching experience did it? I for one prefer bigger screens. tradeoff for bigger laptops is weight.. but then again i dont mind it so much.

Between the M1330 and M1530 the more crucial trade-off really is the WLED display IMO -- quality over quantity, and bear in mind, with quantity comes wasted desktop real estate due to the low 1280x800 res :)

Then again, if the primary use is movies and gaming, the M1530 might make more sense (assuming he doesn't want/need a WLED display).

yeah thats why i said its really down to his personal pref... but since he's not demanding about performance.. real estate would do him good i think.

honestly anything over 14.1'' is not meant for frequent mobility and specially when you need to move a lot in a day from place to place or through the work area. Its simply PITA. Even 14.1'' is too much for me and thats why I am disposing off my DV2500t.

I find my XPS 1210 way more comfortable to carry than this HP but HP carries lot more punch than my more than a year old Dell.

The main function of the laptop is portability. Business minded people will prefer smallest possible size with decent screen, light weight without compromising too much on performance. Here m1330 fits the bill perfectly.

those who want big screens are not really looking for laptop, they want a desktop replacement with big screen ;)

And my make compromise to save money. But real portable laptop must be under 2.7-2.8KG and not more than 14.1'' in my book. Otherwise its not easy to carry around even if you are tall / big.
