Laptops Dell people ask for CVV # while ordering. Shud i give them ?

My friend wants to order a Dell laptop over the phone. They have mailed him a quotation. He wants to pay by credit card but those Dell guys are asking for the CVV number of my credit card along with the card number. Is it safe to give them the CVV # ?? Has anybody done so ? Is there any workaround ?
 
dont worry dude ,go ahead and give its completely safe , i am working at Dell ,all our mails are blocked and checked ,no pens or phones allowed to the floor ,security is high is Dell ,its completely safe to give it :D ,I assure u that
 
How will they charge if u dont give cvv number ? If you want another option then send them a demand draft , i guess they accept that as well .
 
ya but generally we trust shopping websites more than actual person and we are very skeptical while giving the CVV # to a person at the other end of the phone.
 
^^ For shopping payment(reliable ones) is made through secured gateways, where ur CVV number is not seen by human eyes..

I had made a payment for an car insurance to TATA AIG ,which was through telephone,but it was an ivrs system, and i had to punch the cvv no. on the phone .. didnt need to tell the CC guy the cvv..

Highly not recommended, but Dell is a very well known brand.. if they r doing it, must be secure..
 
DD is not possible because that guy is flying to do his MBA by the end of august (i dont know exact date). Thats why for faster processing we are choosing credit card option

EPP, yes i can arrange but tats gonna be only 8% or lil higher on selected lappies need to check in office coz i work for outsourced dell not direct but can get more from my friends working at direct dell , get me the details of the lappy i will get a quote from ma manager or will ask him to do it ,
 
dude , more simpler.....incase u gonna pay by HDFC Credit Card - then all u got to do is create a Virtual Credit Card , it will give u a new card no. and a new vcc no. once used u can distribute it to everyone on TE as well :p

The guy is at present working in Infosys and we were told that Infosys guys get an additional 3% discount but when we last talked with the dell guys last week they said that it has been discontinued. Is it true ?

The config we are looking for is:

Dell Inspiron 1525

HDD: 160 GB

RAM: 2GB

Processor: Intel Core2duo 1.86 GHz (i dont know whether this is the default comes with this combination of hdd and RAM).

Other things as listed on website.

Please let me know if you can arrange for the discount and how much time will it take for delivery. It is needed to be delivered in Nashik

What is the quote that you got for this config ?

Paying with a CC over the phone with Dell is safe, I have done it couple of time and nothing has gone wrong, but my mindset is different than yours, I'm not paranoid about security, so finally its your friend's call.
 
Someone said cellphones are not allowed on floor but once whene i was dealing with a dell rep, he passed me on his personal number and then i called him up on his cell and talked for a few moments and then he called me back from his office's phone to save on my phone bill. It means he's using his cell on the floor. And he was a sales guy whom i finalized the deal with and later on also placed the order with him but used DD
 
dude i have bot a couple laptops from Dell using my CC no issues thus far!

and BTW that corporate discount still exists, you need to really squeeze them!

dude even if he takes the cell on floor ,there will be hundred people watching his acts ,if he had given u the no ,did u call him after u purchased the lappy,coz TL's can take the phone not agents and even if take down the cvv nos dont u think u cant trace who made purchase on ur card ,its Dell man and we deal with 100's of credit card nos daily
