PC Peripherals Dell s XPS m1210 or HP Pavilion dv5000 , Plz help me...

hi , i want to buy a laptop which is capable of playing good enough games and also to work on it somewhat ie some programming and that sorta stuff.
I did some research and really liked two laptops ie dell XPS m1210 and hp pavilion dv 5000.
Some queries i have about dell are:
  • Is 12.1" Widescreen good enough for a laptop for general use, as i will be completely shifting from my PC to laptop for work or surfing or playing games only on that laptop.
  • Also is there by any chance the prices of M1210 going to drop in INDIA as right now it will cost me around 63K + taxes.Can some1 please tell me the exact price they bought their laptop for ,with discounts and all.
  • Are there any discount coupons that come in for DELL in India.
  • Can some1 give me the contact number for DELL sales person , i live in Chandigarh.

Some queries i have about HP are:-
  • With the same configuration the dv 5000 will cross the weight to around 3kg , will it be too much for regular use ?
  • Will there be heat issues in dv series with same configuration of XPS?

I knw the list of queries has got a bit too long , i would really be thankful to all the people who reply and help me in my search for the right kinda laptop.
I m right now in final year of engineering and want a laptop to atleast work with me for 3 years.

whoa...you are asking for a comparison between two totally different segments ...

A 15.4" is bulky and barely portable compared to a 12.1".....However, a 15.4" WXGA has a lot more screen real estate

Thats a personal choice...For me, a laptop is like, the smaller the better...I have used a 15.4" (And hated it), a 14.1" (The right balance between the size and portbaility for most people), a 13.3" (I loved it) and have ordered a 12.1" (WXGA) now after using a friend's 12" XGA for a while

laptop (or any other PC hardware) Prices are always dropping, but that doesn't mean you should wait, else It'd be like waiting forever :p

However, the M1210 Dell India deal is pretty good as it's prettymuch at par (if not better ) than Dell US's price on the XPS 1210

No, however, there are EPP (Corportae) discounts, for which you may want to speak to your company's HR (If you work)

Anyway, Dell usually doesn't bring out coupons for the XPS series

As I said before, it's a personal thing, and 3 kgs is good enough for many people, while I find even the 1.96kg of the XPS M1210 on the higher side

ALso, expect the dv series to heat marginally less than the XPS because of its bigger size And hence better airflow (presumably) within the cabinet
