Hi,

Its been one month i bought Dell XPSL502x laptop. From day1, my service tag is not getting recognized in Dell Support site whenever im trying to update drivers. When i call customer care, they are saying it will take 2 to 3 weeks to reflect in the site. But its already one month over. I called up ccare guys thrice. They are saying the same. I donno what to do.

There is other option by choosing model. But when i choosing the my laptop model (XPSL502x) option, it is showing nearly 42 softwares to download. But im preferring to download using my service tag option only as i'm thinking that i will get specific drivers suitable to my laptop(Corect me if im wrong).

Please suggest me int this regard to update drivers and downloads. Shall i download all those 42 drivers/softwares and install them?

you can download the drivers and softwares by selecting the laptop model, dont worry you will get the same driver downloads options even if you put your service tag.

you can choose the model and you will get the recommended drivers. Also you may check the small manual box that came with laptop..it has a driver CD.

Is the Service Tag registered for warranty purposes though.

Also you can make a screen shot of the software recommendations as per the model, we can let you know what is relevant.

^^Yup,that is more important, the warranty depends on service tag, check your warranty status here to be sure: Dell System Information / Dell Warranty Extensions & Upgrades / Dell Warranty Status
I tried to check the warranty. But it is saying invalid service tag.:(

I have bought the laptop with 1yr warranty service. I donno y my service tag is not getting recocgnized.

The Dell Database is in transition to a new platform, so not to worry, it will take 2-3 weeks as mentioned, well the new platform is exciting with loads of benefits and transparency,

Systems purchased in last 45-days till next week may have these issues, but nonetheless no warranty service is ever denied for systems purchased during this period, this is a temporary thing, Old tags will continue to work fine, dont worry mate :)

Thanks Guys. Once this is resolved, i will update my drivers and softwares. Now im happy:D

I've got another issue. Please resolve if you have any idea.

I have Sensible Vision Face Detection software installed in my laptop. Two days back it showed me a popup saying that updates available for this software, please upgrade. So i clicked OK and it proceeds to upgrade it. But at the end of upgradation, it failed and showed me error saying that, "Installer has insufficient priviileges blah blah blah... ". Please find the error in the provided link. When i click Cancel, instead of losing the upgrade, the entire installation goes off. I couldn't understand the issue. I thought there might be mistake from my side. So i installed the software again from CD given by Dell. Again, yesterday it showed update popup and did the same. But i faced the same situation. I called Dell care, he asked me to restore to my system and got my software back again. He just said dont update this software when you got popup. He said the update may not be compatible with your laptop. I said how would i know that the update is not compatible to my laptop. In that case, the popup should not come or they should mention a NOTE in the popup saying this not compatible to so and so models. He said im right and make a note on this and said just dont update softwares when you got popup and those damage your system. I couldn'd understand instead of solving the issue, he just trying to skip the problem. I dont know y people like these are occuring to me only.:S

The error showed me "Vendor" folder in C drive doesnt have access privilges(Please see the screshot). Please login with Administrator. Actually Im the administrator. But when i install from CD freshly, Im able to access Vendor folder. But when im doing update only, im facing the issue.

Hope, i explained my problem clearly:) Please find error at below link:

Guys any suggestion on this??

Guys, still having the same issue. Still its not recognizing my service tag in the dell support site. What to do?

What did they say ? Ask them to route your call to higher officials & lodge a complaint. Should be resolved in 3 days IMO

drivers will be different only if you have customized the lappy while purchasing, and even if customized, using the model number for driver list, there will be multiple options for each category for entire list of customization options. Just choose the one you have opted while customizing the hardware. If you havnt, then choose default.
