Dell Studio 15inch or Latitude 5500 ?

I am leaning towards Latitude 5500.

Main things about LAtitude in order of my priority.

1.9 cell is a must . Have to pay ~2.8 K more for it .:(

2.Is 2 GB default ?.I want 2GB.

3.3 years normal warranty is good.

4. 15.4 " Widescreen WXGA + (1440X900) Display with TrueLife (TM) is 3K more :( .Standard screen is also fine if budget shoots up.

5.Better build quality .

6.Has 160 GB only default . Thats fine .

7.Standard blue tooth and wireless is fine I think.

8.latitude has by default better Processor.

Some questions -

1.From 9-cell battery how much run time can I expect ? (normal stuff ) .

2.The integrated graphics on 5500 ,how good is it ?.I dont need it for games or high end things ,low to moderate should be ok. Need good colors though .

3.How much is lowest price for the default 5500 configuration ?( not from the dell website ;) ) .

4.Is the build quality and stability of 5500 worth that studio ?

5.Any know issues with E5500 ?

Laptop gurus please advice .

PS:I have a high end tower (self built) at home . This will be backup or second computer.

there is no Studio XPS 15 model. i guess what u meant was Studio 15. Studio 15 is a really good lap, best value for money, dunno abt latitude though.

1.with 9 cell battery u ll get arnd 4-5 hrs back up

2. If ur r not goin to game or do heavy graphic stuff(photoshop etc) den integrated graphics that should suffice ur needs. latitude model comes with 4500MHD, which is pretty good.

no idea abt ur other 3 questions

Go for latitude 5400/ 6400

14" 1440x900 display

cost would be similar to the 5500 for the 5400

9 cell battery lasts me 6 hours easy, 8 hrs if I use carefully.

Build quality is very good (my e5400 is dropped regularly at the airports and survives very well, only one when it fell from the overhead bin did the lid damage, fixed next day morning because of -> ) and you can get 3 yr 24x5 onsite 4 hr warranty too.

Also pick up the wifi-n card at minor extra cost.

Display is a personal choice. The std display is matt finish, hence easy to read, but slightly lower backlight, which gives better battery.

Memory default is 1Gb, I went for 4 Gb right away. For GFX the 5400/5500 are built over th G45 chipset, so you get pretty decent gfx, that ofc doesnt compare with discrete gfx.

My total cost was 60k odd. PM me if you want more details.

To end your doubt: A latitude is well worth it. It has a reputation, hence organizations prefer it.
