Hi. If the laptop supports charging via USB-C, does this supply power over USB-C?

Also, is the power adapter necessary for it to function or it can draw power from an adapter connected to the USB-C port?

Yes it can charge your laptop as well via USB-C if your laptop supports it.

The power adapter is necessary to provide power to the dock itself, peripherals and to your laptop.

I've used this with a Dell and a HP laptop with no issues. I'm not sure about compatibility with Macbooks. You will have to look that up.

Update: I looked it up online and the dock seems to be well supported by Macbooks.
