Laptops Dell Warranty for Dell 1501 Laptop purchased in USA

Guys- I have just received ( hand carried to India ) a dell 1501 laptop purchased by me -in USA- in June, 07.It is in perfect working condition- though without packing!!
It is supposed to have a warranty for 1 year.
I shall be using it in India.
How to get this warranty transferred to Dell India ?
 
u cant... unless u buy an international warranty online from the place of purchase... depends whether they will give it to u without doing a complete checkup of the machine considering the fact that uve used it already for 4 months+
 
I dont think there should be much problem if you have the correct warranty :) Check any documentation you received with it.It migh have mentioned whether international warranty or not. Else if its "Completecover warranty" then also ur covered here. Else just give dell support a call ;)
 
call dell on the their toll free number, give them the service tag number, and take it up from there, they will tell you if it has international warranty or not, if it dosent, you can get local warranty by paying a nominal additional fee,
 
buddy trust me it doesnt make sense to get additional local warranty if u dont already have it (an i presume u prob wont have it, cause unless u select 3 or 4 yrs warranty its not international. ) anyways the reason i say its not worthwile is because their prices for the extension here are exhorbitant.. i had enquired bout a year back an thy qouted about 20k for the 3 yr extension.. made absolutely no sense considerin id got my notebook for 38k.. hahaha.. wat a laugh it was whn he said it will cost u 20k ..
